The Board notes with some sadness that Ian’s social media posts have led to a great deal of anger amongst fans. In some instances, this has resulted in inappropriate comments and threats being posted online and in some cases to Board members personally. While Ian’s disappointment at being released is understandable, the consequences of his actions in response to this goes to underline the importance of accuracy and professionalism in our communications.

I'll never do it justice, but essentially he was heartbroken to not have the opportunity to break the record, especially how it came about and how he was treated.
He genuinely loves this football club and the magic moments its provided him and his family, he's played his best football here and is proud to have an over 8 year association with us. The emotion is overwhelming, but the support from staff / players / board / fans means the world to him, as did the opportunity to come back the right way and finish what he started.
He can't wait to score many more this season. | | | |
