Are the WRU looking to go to two regions, one in Swansea one in Cardiff. Scarlets seem to think it is on the cards as local politicians are objecting to St Helens development, although they have a new sponsorship deal.

Sadly the Death Knell is sounding for the Ospreys no first class rugby in a city the size of Swansea is shocking

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

I really hope that the Ospreys pull away from the WRU and align themselves with the English Rugby Premiership, even if they have to start down the pyramid. I believe that the people of Swansea would get right behind them.

Can the WRU stop it though?

Be a great move in my opinion and I'd go and support them, better standard of Rugby be great and I'd expect the Ospreys to be able to generate some excellent sponsorship.

Lake and Morgan are going to Gloucester apparently.

Big loss they would be, if they were able to move to the England Leagues it might change their minds.

It would blow Welsh regional rugby out of the water. What could the WRU do, ban any players who play for them from playing for Wales, they would have to ban all Premiership players, it would never happen.

Just the threat would make the WRU back track.

If they can go for it they should, it all comes down as to whether they can fund the move and maintain that funding.

There's no two ways the writing has been on the wall for the Ospreys. The WRU have wanted to get rid of them for a while. Not signing the last agreement was their opportunity to step in . Obviously they are Cardiff centric but they do seem to love the guys from Llanelli to. Didn't they beat the All Blacks in the early 70's šŸ˜‚
The question is will there be three completely new entities or will they be rehashed Cardiff Newport Llanelli? Ospreys supporters will not go to watch a parochial suburb with links to the past. They may even not go to a new entity.
The WRU will now leave the second most populated area without a first class team. No wonder we are so bad on the International stage. Could it get worse? Possibly.

Not just Swansea. Neath is and always has been the absolute quintessential rugby town. Aberavon, Bridgend, the history of the game in these places is second to none.

I think many would agree with you & maybe they will apply to join the English league. The problem looming is that the Ospreys owners have apparently bid to takeover Cardiff

They ruined Pontypridd's rugby club, it's on the bones of its arse now.

There was a big meeting in Westgate St on Wednesday, but not heard any news from it, not yet anyway.

Those in the WRU hierarchy all jumped in their cars and returned back over the Bridge, they couldn't give a monkeys chuff about Welsh rugby the halfwits not got any skin in the game here.

Questions need to be asked as to why they had to hire non Welsh people to run the WRU they have no idea on how parochial Welsh rugby supporters are.

It looks like Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake are moving to Gloucester at the end of the season. The beginning of the end for the Ospreys?

Move for both confirmed.

I believe that will take it up to 7 Welsh Internationals playing for Gloucester.

Handy for Wales though, they're just across the border and playing in a well structured competitive league, their standards will improve, much like Tomas Williams who is Gloucester's captain which just shows how much he's improved.

Good for them on a personal level, but the game in Wales is going to be very much poorer for their departure.

I get the rationale behind the 25 cap rule, keeping the best players in Wales should strengthen the ā€œregionsā€ make them more competing, get the crowds coming back through the turnstiles etc etc etc, but it hasn’t and the rugby is almost in a terminal decline.

I watch a lot of club rugby, but very little regional rugby. I may watch the Ospreys once in a blue moon, but that’s it. Once they’ve been wound up I’m done with the WRU and Regional rugby.
