Season tickets
at 16:29 18 Mar 2013

Stating the obvious I know but should the R's go down I think this is going to be a massive headache for the board/disgruntled fans. I would like to see them try what Charlton did when they got relegated from the prem. For those that don't know they kept prices the same but said anyone buying one would get a free season ticket if they got promoted. Not sure what they did the next year when they failed to get promoted but it kept attendances up in that first season. Kept at the same price without incentive the R's will be playing to very low crowds. Any decrease should be a biggish one to bring in line with other championship clubs but then thats asking them to take a another financial hit.
What do people think will happen and what do they want? Any thoughts?

Football is sh1t part 2
at 19:12 19 Nov 2012

A few weeks ago I wrote part 1 of this thread. I was amazed by how many people agreed with me. Part 2 is still very much an incoherant rant but here goes.
Living a 100 miles away but with my Mum living in London I either travel up the day before and go home after the game or stay up and go home the next day. This week it was the former.
On Friday after chatting with my Mum for a couple of hours I met a few of my friends and had a bloody good beer session. Saturday morning with a sore head but happy I had a couple more hours with my Mum before setting off to meet some friends for the start of football day. Usual drill, cafe and then a few pints. For sometime I have often said I could quite easily do the visit, cafe, stay in the pub and go home when the match starts. We all know what followed in the game but for me it was almost rammed downed my throat why I had felt like this for so long.
On 40 minutes I went to drain some more built up fluid from my body Chatting to one of the blokes from the pub I said "I can see me leaving very early today" "When" came the response. "Probably as soon as we go 2 down" I took my seat and within a minute 2 nil. "I don't need this I'd rather catch an early train. See you all later" I said to my friends. None of them looked surprised as I left before halftime. I heard the boo's as I turned into Uxbridge Road.
Conclusion, I need my Mum and I need my friends but football not at all. I just don't enjoy it but as I've said before not because we're bad, I'm a QPR that's what we've alway been barring the odd moment, but everything that goes with it.

Football is sh1t mini rant
at 08:51 20 Oct 2012

Following on from the dirty leeds and enjoying the prem threads I thought I'd start one about how sh1t football is.
Like many on this board I have been a QPR fan for more years than I care to remember. For the me though my love of the game has been dying for along time. I am still a season ticket holder but this doesn't stop me missing games when once I would 've almost risked getting sacked, divorced, excommunicated you name it. Now I miss games if something good is on the telly. Alright that last bits not quite true but I won't inconvenience myself like I once would've done. The fact I do still attend is down to living 100 miles and having a good excuse to see friends and family.
For me so much is wrong with the game, the list is endless and growing. From the importance and trivialisation of everything premier league to the unimportance of domestic cups. From teams playing to be 4th and others trying not to be 6th.
To be honest I don't know where this rant is going but I'm not a happy R and it's not because we arent getting results I've been through many sh1t times with the R's over the years.
I genuinely get more enjoyment out of other sports but like an addict I can't quite kick the habit. It's been said on here many times that could end up in financial ruin, a part me would almost welcome that.
Does anyone get where I'm coming from or have similar thoughts? I know i've put myself there to be shot at but serious responses only please.

Knee jerk reaction

I understand peoples frustration with both last nights result and our league position but I don't think we need to panic just yet be aware but just don't panic.
Looking at our first 5 league games it's only really the swansea result that imo is worse then what we could've reasonabally hoped for/expected. So many people on here were taking being top after 2 games a given. Football doesn't work that way but still threads go up about how we will do in our next 7 games. I actually thought we could be bottom after those 5 games. I had a feeling we might lose to swansea although not by 5, I also had the feeling we might win for me it was a tough one to call. Then came six fingers, we never do well there so a point was a bonus. The next 3 looked like probable defeats so the scum result was a bonus.
Obviously we need to start improving results but it's after the next 6 games or so that a more sound judgement can be made on where we are.
As for last night it was frustrating we lost against a clearly inferior side but our approach was altogether different to that of a league game. Against spurs and chels we defended well barring one minute 35 seconds where we were a little unlucky. Last night I thought was actually a decent game. We defended woefully but we played the game like an old fashioned cup tie. So many times we defended with just one back such was our attacking intent.
Imo this side will pick up results. There are things I would change, like Cisse always starting but imo we do have a decent set of players and there are 5 or 6 teams in this division not as good as us. While there were people talking about finishing top 8 at the start of the season I was looking at a comfortable 12th - 14th. That opinion hasn't changed.
I know football fans are fickle but just remember how many on here were singing our praises after the chels and spurs game.

With less then a week to go till the start of the season QPR have made 7 signings but with those signings came a whole host of players we were supposedly linked to. Sad I know but for my own amusement I listed the ones I saw (not including the 7 we got), so here goes.

Did Man Citeh only name a 24 man squad at the end of the last window? I'd find it very strange if he was named in a 25 if they had no intention of playing him (which was appeared to be the case as they wanted rid and he wasn't there). If they only named a 24 that also seems quite strange with the number of players at their disposal. Anyone have any idea what they did or how he's eligable to play now?

In defence of Cisse well just a little
at 02:28 25 Mar 2012

Rules change and I know players should know them and adapt to them but there was a time not so very long ago that neither sending off would've happened. Both would probably have been yellow cards and in the case of the first one possibly just a ticking off. As for today I can remember todays incident often being referred to as a typical forwards tackle.
It has often been said that football will soon be a non contact sport. I view a match with a bit of an old school outlook and sometimes struggle to accept that every challenge warrants a yellow card. Which I know isn't the case but it certainly appears that way sometimes.
I do understand by the letter of the law both sendings off were fully justified, I just don't fully agree with with the way the game has changed to accommodate these laws. For me intent is what cards should be judged on. Cards tend to be given in certain areas of the pitch. Mistimed challenges booked in one half of the the pitch but deliberate blocks in the other half only punished with a freekick.

Last season I thought he'd make a good prem signing for us. I asked why people thought he couldn't cut it in the prem and what's the difference between him and say SWP, Walcott , Lennon and co? The general feeling was his poor control and crossing ability. Now I think Lennon has improved alot but having seen more of the others and in particular SWP play are people of the same opinion? I know he hasn't pulled up any trees but is he really any worse?

They may not be spectacular to watch but they are very professional and well organised. I've never been the greatest Pardew fan but I think he's done a great job this season. We all know our weaknesses and maybe a stronger side would've had them stretching a bit more but I think they showed a little of why they are near the top. They killed the game off in a very professional manner.

Sentiment and reality
at 19:58 8 Jan 2012

I and no Rangers fan should ever forget what NW did for this club. I will always be grateful. I am also very grateful that Amit and Fernandez saved us from those two idiots flav and bern.
Things move on and sadly momentum was going the wrong way and once it does it is very hard to reverse. We have a very good board now and they want us to succeed. Part of that success is staying up and I agree with the board this gives us the best chance of doing that. All the statements coming out of the club have imo shown they have our best interests. Phil Beard showed class and I think Amit summed it up with 3 words "with heavy heart"
Sentiment will not keep us up the board realised that and perhaps the fans against what has happened should take a moment to think about the decision but do it removing sentiment from their thoughts.

One question maybe two
at 14:06 8 Jan 2012

We all know about the R's circumstances at the beginning of the season, what NW acheived last year and that the timing wouldn't be great but the question is and putting sentiment to one side do people think he should be sacked? A bit like those questionaires you sometimes fill in if you answer yes no need to make further comment. If you answered no go to the next question, which is. DO YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE NW HAS WHAT IT TAKES AND WILL TURN THIS SITUATION AROUND?
