Trundle Backs His Old Team-Mates

Trundle Tips Swans For Success

Trundle is enjoying life at the higher level with Bristol City making an impressive start to the season to sit in the higher reaches and dreaming of the Premiership. It was £1 million that persuaded the Swans to part with their top scorer for the past four seasons, the first time a player had left the club for that kind of outlay.

Trundle had always made no secret of his desire to test himself at a higher level, a factor in making the decision for him.

He told the paper, "It was a massive decision and one that was very difficult for me,

"The player I was at Swansea and the way the fans were with me was something you only see very rarely in football.

"I had a special bond with Swansea. As the club grew, I grew as a player and you don't get that too often.

"The fans were one of the main things tugging at my heart strings when I had to make my decision. They were a great part of everything there and the adulation I got was massive. They played such a big part in my time at the club and I won't forget them. That's why it was so tough to leave.

"But I was 30, it was a million-pound deal and I wanted to play at the level where I believe I deserve to be.

"I didn't want to get to the Championship when I was in my mid-30s and couldn't do myself justice.

"I loved playing at Swansea and I loved my time there. I didn't want to leave, it wasn't as if something was wrong or that I was unhappy.

"I just had to be true to myself and test myself at a higher level. It was an opportunity I couldn't turn down.

"I never touted or demanded a move. It was just the right opportunity came up.

"The simple difference in the leagues is that you are coming up against better players

"They have more quality on the ball and they always like to play out from the back.

"That's the thing with Swansea. They play Championship football.

"They like to get the ball down and play football. Hopefully when they make it to the Championship, the style of football will suit them and they will do well here.

"They definitely have Championship quality. They play the right football and everything is in place to see them promoted.

"They have a great stadium, a supportive chairman, a brilliant young manager who knows football inside out and a strong squad. With the unbelievable supporters they have, they will soon get where they deserve to be.

"I always look at the Swansea results to see how they are getting on

"They had a bit of a tough start but they had come back and got up to fourth before the Leeds game.

"Leeds was never going to be easy considering the form they were in. It was tough for the boys but they will come back strong."
