De Vries: We Need To Grow Up A Bit Monday, 7th Dec 2009 07:44 Dorus De Vries bemoaned the late equaliser at Peterborough and called for more squad maturity The Swansea City goalkeeper was furious at the last gasp equaliser that robbed the team of a victory on Saturday and dropped them out of the play off positions in the process. Lee Trundle's own stoppage time goal had appeared to have given the Swans a hard earned three points but the late lapse meant it was not to be. And De Vries believes that it was a lack of maturity that cost them the goal. “As a group it shows we still need to mature a bit more,” he told the Western Mail. “When you score an injury-time goal to take the lead in a game like this, you need to kill the game off. “We should have been more aware of the dangers. All you need to do is keep the ball in the corners and waste a bit of time. “It probably wasn’t a good idea for that many players to go forwards, but that’s just the nature of this team. We are attacking-minded and we all like to get on the ball. “We just need to grow up a bit, though. This will be a vital lesson in that respect and the gaffer has already told us we need to learn from it. “It feels like a loss because, when Trunds scored his second in injury time, I thought we would nick it and get all three points. But then their second goal was unbelievable. “We were defending it with four guys, but my touch took it away from them. Ash then slipped at the wrong time and we were just really unlucky. “There was nothing else we could do about it. The luck just wasn’t with us.” Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
