Danny Hollands says he wants to repay Pompey for restoring his faith in his footballing abilities.

The midfielder was out of favour at Charlton but found a new lease of life when he came to Fratton Park to help spark the end-of-season run that saw off the club's relegation fears.

Hollands told The News: 'You go through good and bad times. The last 18 months before I came here weren’t such a good time for me. For whatever reason it didn’t work out and I wasn’t given a chance. That’s that.

‘I came here for seven games and I got my buzz back and started enjoying my football again. I had lost it. There were times when I was going to my wife and my children and they were the only thing keeping me going.

‘Football can be difficult. One minute you can be up and the next you are down. I believe we have the best job in the world, but it can be a rollercoaster. If you don’t enjoy what you do day-in, day-out there really is no point in doing it.

‘It was tough. But I got my buzz back and that was the major factor in coming here. I have to thank the club for that.’

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are reported to be interested in central-defender Sonny Bradley, who fell down the pecking order at Fratton in the latter part of 2013-14.
