Jordy Clasie On Cusp Of Move
Monday, 13th Jul 2015 07:54

Feyenoord have virtually confirmed that Jordy Clasie will be moving in the next day or so after announcing on twitter the reasons he was dropped for a friendly.

The Dutch are nothing if not forthright, therefore it should come as no surprise the way they have dealt with interest in their star man Jordy Clasie, no room for doubt as to why he was not selected for their squad to take on Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday with the club taking to twitter to say.

‘Jordy Clasie is not playing against Fortuna Dusseldorf this afternoon. The reason is that serious interest has been shown for the captain,’

That interest is believed to be from Saints and Italian club Lazio although reports from Holland are saying that Clasie himself prefers a move to the Premier and the Koeman factor is likely to be the key factor in that.

The fee will be in the region of £10 million which will be considerably less than Saints will rake in for Morgan Schneiderlin meaning that Koeman can now start to work on strengthening the squad in key areas with Clasie being the first piece of a trio of positions that Koeman will now see as vital, the other two being in central defence and lastly a winger.

One decent centre back and we have one hell of a team again. All I wish for is to be higher than spurs this season

We won't even notice Morgan has gone, I believe his style of play will compliment big Vic, and that guy will dominate the premier league. Will see him pushing upfield a bit more and scoring more goals, I'm thinking Vieira, Toured?
If reports are true we are about to sign a CB that will eclipse both Lovren and Alderweireld, Virginia Van Dyk from Celtic. He was my first choice the last couple of seasons.
We've already got a brilliant winger in the making, Sam McQueen

Advisable not to best guess Koeman, Nick, doubtful he'll be in for any more forwards. If he gets Clasie & Van Dyk my guess is that we will see the doors of the vault locked for this year. Our wage bill must be rising steadily to grab players like these.

Isgrove will make it as long as he doesn't get injured and yes, McQueen does have some flair as well. Remember that raw kid named Lallana anybody?

We could have the makings of a strong defence if these signings happen but we must make a good start and get the 'easy' (gotta be laughing) 3 points from the lower teams. Hope we can overhaul Bournemouth who start the season in third place.

Is Clasie a straight replacement for MS or is he, as I have heard elsewhere, actually a more attack orientated midfielder? If so will RK be planning to get Steven Davis to drop back to partner Wanyama and Clasie will be more a classic No.10 because I do think we need this role filled, not sure whether Tadic can sustain his form in this role for a full season and Ramirez continues to frustrate!

One question.

Who plays up front if Pelle is injured or suspended?

Classie lies very deep and spreads it. Very similar to Morgan.

Probably doesn't cover as much ground, but has a nice forward pass on him.

Plus, he looks like he is a winner. For someone so small he looks like he carries a big presence.
