Pompey trio praised after Crawley are beaten
Sunday, 3rd Jan 2016 22:13 by pompey-fans.com staff

Marc McNulty had praise for Caolan Lavery, Enda Stevens and Gary Roberts after Pompey brushed aside Crawley to start 2016 on a winning note.

McNulty got the second - in between goals by Matt Clarke and Roberts - and was delighted with the result and the team's performance.

He told the Pompey website: 'It’s very pleasing. It was a big game after a bad Christmas period and all the boys knew how important it was to pick up three points. In the first half it was certainly a good performance — we were excellent at times.

'The great thing about being here as a striker is that you know you’re going to get a few chances in every game. The gaffer likes us to have a lot of possession and to continuously be on the attack, which is brilliant.

'Enda put in some great crosses and thankfully I was able to get on the end of one of them at the far post. It’s also great to have a guy like Robbo coming back. He’s a top, top player and has a lot to give to the side.

'And credit to Lavs because he makes a lot of unselfish runs to take defenders out of the game. That’s something we work on in training all the time.'

Next up for Pompey's it's the FA Cup visit to Ipswich on Saturday.
