Liverpool Concerns As Star Duo Miss Training
Tuesday, 24th Jan 2017 09:15

Liverpool fan website has confirmed that Liverpool were missing two key players when they trained on Monday morning.

Liverpool also have injury concerns of their own ahead of the clash with Saints at Anfield on Wednesday night, Liverpool fan website www.empireofthekop.com noticed that two key men were unable to train yesterday.

The website also reported that neither appeared fit in Saturday's loss to Swansea City as reported on the website below.

"The usual pre-match images of Jurgen Klopp’s men training have been the cause of concern as it appeared Philippe Coutinho and Nathaniel Clyne were nowhere to be seen.

Both men were absent as the Reds continued their preparations for Wednesday’s League Cup semi-final second leg against Southampton at Anfield.

Coutinho has only recently returned to competitive action having been out since November with an ankle injury he picked up against Sunderland. The Brazilian looked far from his usual self in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Swansea and was visibly still some way away from full fitness.

Clyne was also a shadow of the player we have seen in recent months at the weekend as he reportedly played with pain killers due to a rib injury that had previously ruled him out of the recent 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Losing both would be a significant blow ahead of tomorrow’s game but we have the attacking options and a reliable backup at right-back in Trent Alexander-Arnold to do a job in their place if required. "

Why do we need excuses to win, if we can't beat their strongest team then we don't deserve to win anything. What merit in beating a second string side, a pyrrhic victory is good enough for us? It shouldn't be!

Given that this article is 90% a quote from a liverpool fan website, where has anyone said we need excuses to win, this article merely reports the fact that two Liverpool players are injured. No one has metioned that they will be putting out a second string

I dont understand your logic here, you seem determined to undermine and put down Southampton Football Club at every turn, it seems that your dislike of Puel has clouded why you actually follow the club.

The old adage is that you can only beat what is put out against you, I would hazard a guess that there has barely been a trophy won without an injury or two in both sides let alone the losing side

Saint Brock is the same numpty that said just a couple of days prior to The Leicester match.. and I quote, "Ward-Prowse has become an embarrassment to himself and his team mates, the sooner he is sold on to a Championship side the better."

Shows just how much he knows about anything.

I personally give a monkey's how we get through if we do. When I'm sitting at a pub quiz in 5 years time and the question is "Who won the Football League Cup in 2016-17?" I'm not sure anyone is going to say, in the event that we won it, "Southampton, but they didn't deserve because Coutinho and Clyne were injured at the semi final stage." The history books don't include that kind of narrative. We have injuries, they have injuries. We have a squad, and so do they. A much more expensively assembled one at that. As long as no foul play is involved I'll take any winner on Wednesday night!

Yes - I don't quite understand what Saint Brock is getting at - the article is only repeating some injury rumours.

On JWP I would probably wait a while to see who is nearer the truth. It was one decent performance against a side who gave us the run of midfield - maybe it was the start of his glorious journey to heroic status, or maybe it was like Martina's goal vs Arsenal - a one off. I would still swap JWP for a good CB....

No idea how you interpreted my comment as an anti-Saints agenda Nick? Just the opposite in fact and I am very much with Puel on this one, we should not be afraid of anybody even the Scousers at Anfield. We put out our best team and give it our all. We don't care about what the opposition do or who plays for them or not, we go up there to win our game playing our way!

Thanks for the vote of confidence 'redandwhitedee' but best to put your own thoughts on here rather than a criticism of other posters, that's the sort of stuff they revel in over on saints web but we do not need that sort of thing on here, please.

If you do not agree then vote 'no' and post your own reasons.

...and just for the fainthearted, we'll lose 2-1 but will advance to the Final!

That is what I have bet on....2-1 and through on away goals...squeaky bum time! Bring it on, can't wait...or can if it means VVD is able to play!

Do away goals count in normal time or after extra time only? I've heard fans say both.

Brock, can see where Redandwhite is coming from. Think you properly overstepped the mark with the comment about JWP being "embarrassing" and us "being better off with 10 men". He's never done anything to justify such comments. Whether his ability matches his efforts is another question, but I support anyone who I feel gives it their all. Especially when they are one of our own and still relatively young. I'm hoping the game against Leicester will spur him on to other decent performances against better sides. Personally I'd save "embarrassing" to nobody journeymen who don't give a sh1t about this club.

Plus I'd applaud anyone who plays for their country at any level.
