No arguments over Pompey's Doncaster draw
No arguments over Pompey's Doncaster draw

Connor Ronan believes a draw was a fair result in Pompey's incident-packed Fratton clash with Doncaster.

The on-loan recruit from Wolves enjoyed the game and said the Blues certainly didn't deserve to lose.

They twice had to come from behind, with goals by Anton Walkes and Brett Pitman rescuing a point.

Ronan told the Pompey website: 'With how the game went and what happened at the end, I think that we have to be happy to come away with a point. Doncaster probably deserved their early goal, but we then came into the match and once we got the equaliser, we could have gone on to get another.

'We were quite confident in the second half that we could go on to win and put them on the back foot, so conceding again deflated us a bit. But the fans got behind us, we picked ourselves up and levelled. It was the right result in the end after going down to 10 and then nine men.

'The injury was just unlucky, but these things happen and to get a red card after that was a sign things weren’t really going our way.'

Ronan praised Kal Naismith, who spent the final few minutes in goal after Stephen Henderson went off with Pompey having used all their subs.

He said: 'My first thought when the keeper went down was that we didn’t have any substitutions remaining. I went over to the side and the gaffer was asking who wanted to go in goal, although I knew I wasn’t a candidate.

'Kal said he wanted to do it and fair play to him because he made a save that got us something from the match.'

Pompey are next in action at MK Dons on Saturday, then entertain Blackburn on Tuesday week.
