Jackett tells Pompey fans: We owe you
Saturday, 24th Mar 2018 18:47 by pompey-fans.com staff

Pompey players are being told they need to start giving their home fans something to shout about - starting with Sunday's televised clash with Oxford.

The Blues have been Fratton flops so far in 2018, with six home League One games yielding two draws and four defeats.

Boss Kenny Jackett said: 'We’ve generally not done well enough at home and have taken one point from the last 12 available. It’s in stark contrast to our away performances, with nine points from 12 — you usually find it’s the other way around.

'Up until Christmas it was pretty much the reverse and so hopefully we can put things right this weekend. We owe our supporters a good display and, more importantly, a positive result. We’ll be doing everything we can to deliver.

'We’re going to need to win home and away games if we want to get into the top six, although both fifth and sixth spot are still available to us.'

Saturday's League One games saw Bradford and Charlton go above Pompey in the top half of the table - though the Blues would leapfrog both were they to beat Oxford by two goals on Sunday.

Oxford head south in 16th place and are not quite clear of relegation worries yet, and have a new manager in Karl Robinson.

Pompey have Gareth Evans and Nathan Thompson available again after injury and suspension.

Kick off is at 4pm and it's live on Sky for those without tickets.
