One bad game doesn't define things for Pompey - let's focus on Ipswich

One bad day at the office mustn't stop us - that is Kenny Jackett's message to players and fans ahead of Ipswich's visit to Fratton Park on Saturday.

It will be one of Pompey's toughest examinations of the season and they are hardly going into it with the ideal build-up - instead they face the Tractor Boys on the back of a 4-1 defeat at Accrington and their poorest display of the season last week.

But Jackett says one game doesn't define form and he is urging his players to turn in a positive performance that gets the crowd behind them and gives Ipswich plenty to think about.

He told the club website: 'We need to learn from last week’s performance and try to shore things up because we were far too open. That has to be addressed — whether it’s tactical or with personnel — and try to bounce back on Saturday.

'We don’t want a repeat of how we played there — particularly defensively — but the emphasis in training has been on Ipswich. They’re recently a Championship side and will be looking to get straight back up. Those expectations and their ability will, I’m sure, see them competing all the way through the season.

'The attendance is going to be a big one and it’ll be a great day if we can bring the fans into play by producing a really positive performance. We always analyse the opposition, but my thoughts are mainly about my own team and trying to put another run together.

'Before last Saturday at Accrington we’d built up some real momentum and so we can’t let that one game stop us.'

There are no new injury worries for the Blues but they are without the likes of Lee Brown and Brandon Haunstrup, leaving defensive options limited. Christian Burgess and Oli Hawkins are back in contention after missing the defeat at Accrington.

Ipswich have not won in their past four games but they remain second.
