Luton loss is not one to file away and forget for Pompey

Pompey won't brush their defeat at Luton under the carpet.

It was their third league reverse on the spin and boss Kenny Jackett says they have to accept it and do their utmost to end the losing sequence when Doncaster visit Fratton Park on Saturday.

Second half goals by Ronan Curtis and debut-making Omar Bogle twice had Pompey cancelling out a Luton lead - only for the Hatters to win it late on with a contentious George Moncur free kick.

Jackett told the club website: 'We fought back well and had the lion’s share of the play after the break, but ultimately it was Luton’s night. There’s a long way to go and we’re disappointed to lose. We can’t brush this one under the carpet, but we’re still in the hunt and we have to look forward positively.'

He added: 'We just didn’t get the rub of the green with the decisions throughout the game. It happens sometimes — particularly when you’re the away side. We’ve conceded two goals in the second half from set-pieces. My impression was that it was a penalty, although I felt we should have had one as well.

'I didn’t think it was a free-kick at the end and Moncur’s struck it very well inside the post, which was decisive.'

Pompey have further strengthened their squad by recruiting winger Lloyd Isgrove on loan from League One Barnsley. There's speculation one more new face could arrive on Thursday, which is deadline day.
