Pompey boss looks forward - and to his forwards
Wednesday, 6th Feb 2019 22:48 by pompey-fans.com staff

Kenny Jackett can get back to plotting Pompey's League One revival after seeing his troops exit the FA Cup in their replay at QPR.

Second half goals by Nahki Wells and Matt Smith were enough to put Pompey out, leaving them to focus on a league campaigm that has gone off the rails in recent weeks.

The Blues head to Plymouth this Saturday and Southend a week later as they try to force their way back into the top two.

Jackett felt Pompey gave a good account of themselves at Loftus Road but didn't have enough firepower.

He told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'We competed well, but couldn’t really get any shots away until a bit of a flurry towards the end. Ultimately it was two set-pieces that cost us — the three goals they’ve scored across the two ties have all come from them.

'It’s been two corners and one free-kick and they’ve proved to be the difference, but we generally battled well. We’ve had a good cup run and while there’s some frustration at going out of the competition, we have to look forward now.'
