New striker: We'll get those Pompey connections going
Wednesday, 19th Jan 2022 20:40 by pompey-fans.com staff

Tyler Walker can't wait to get into his Pompey stride - and thinks the Blues will soon start to fire.

He made his debut in the 0-0 draw at AFC Wimbledon after joining on loan from Coventry and was disappointed he couldn't help Pompey to victory.

Walker, son of Nottingham Forest and England defender Des, said: 'I really enjoyed it and I’m just gutted that we couldn’t come away with all three points, but we’ll move on from this and go again on Saturday.

'I’m really happy to be here, though, and looking to push on and try to help this club secure promotion. It was straight in and I’ve enjoyed the start, so now I’m looking forward to getting properly up and running.

'I travelled down after training with Coventry on Monday, so it’s all been really quick, but now can concentrate on my football. I literally met everyone when we linked up ahead of the game, but all the lads have been really good to me.

'We were definitely better in the second half and gave it a real go — it’s just about getting those connections going. I’m confident that things will start dropping for us soon and that I can score the goals I was brought here for.'

Pompey head to Sunderland with Walker and defender Hayden Carter - who also made his first Blues start at Plough Lane - both likely to be involved.
