FIFA elections 15:33 - Jan 23 with 1164 viewspioneer

"Fifa says it will be unable to confirm who is standing for election against president Sepp Blatter for "some time". The deadline for nominations is 29 January, but Fifa electoral committee member Dominico Scala has said it will only start assessing candidates then. Candidates must pass an anti-corruption test before they can be confirmed."

What sort of an anti corruption test can it be if Septic Bladder passes it?

Surely they can announce the names of those nominated immediately with their candidacy being 'subject to satisfying the anti-corruption provisions'.

Everything FIFA does is surrounded in secrecy and I think we all know why. There is more validity in a North Korean election.

Even if - and it looks like FIFA are attempting to scupper the chances of any candidates standing against Blatter - but even if someone succeeded in ousting him as president, the individual national football bodies which form a majority of FIFA members are themselves so inherently corrupt that anyone trying to sweep the stench from the parent body would be doomed to failure.

There is only one hope - start again from scratch. Disband FIFA and re-constitute a world governing body with all previous individual representatives disbarred from their posts, including those from England and other Home nations if necessary.

Chances of that happening? Nil.
