Anyone know of any pubs that are having a proper bonfire on Saturday?
It seems like the old traditional local bonfires are dying out and being replaced with the council-run events with mainly fireworks. Loads of pubs used to have them, such as the White Lion in Norden and the Fairview. Went to one last year in Mossley, but the landlord's saying he not having one this year "because it's Saturday night". FFS
So don't mind travelling a bit, or even Friday night at a push, but there's nothing can replace the warming glow of a proper bommie just as the cold dark nights are setting in.
Rochdale and Norden cricket clubs both having bonfires on Saturday 5th.
Norden CC always have a great bonfire and firework display, ticket says £3000 worth(think the firework supplier is their sponsor) Beer tents and food stalls around the ground. Rides for the kids. Last time I went Dave Sweetmore was the dj, but played some proper stuff!
You have to pre purchase the tickets, got mine from the club. No pay on the night.
