Rest of the Championship thread by Hunterhoop 10 Aug 2024 11:07Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?
For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?
Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.
Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

I’d be surprised if he got another Championship job after the disaster at Leicester. Fully expect Rowett will come in and get them winning again and up the table: bad attitudes or not there is a top ten squad of players in terms of ability.

Good luck to Rowett as Leicester seem a complete mess currently; and I wouldn't hold that against Cifuentes. People would probably point to what he managed with us as signs of a decent manager.

Very much "good luck" in the sense of, no chance there mate!! But he'll get another nice pay off when he's sacked to go with all the other ones he's had.

Deal until the end of the season. Would assume there’s a nice bonus for keeping them up and a longer contract on offer if it’s not a disaster. Gets him a few months’ work and into the shop window to be the next manager of Championship Club X if he’s perceived to have done a decent job but can’t be bothered with the unenviable task of sorting out that mess of a squad over the summer.

I think they've got another manager change in them. We're the only cnts they've beaten for about 3 months. I do not understand why you'd get rid of Ryan Mason, widely seen to be doing his best but just too inexperienced, to replace him with Eric Ramsey.

I said at the time, why appoint someone like Mason if you aren't going to give him time. To replace him with 'Eric Ramsay' is just wild. They could do worse than Marti, took a far worse side than theirs and made them look respectable in a short time.

Virtually nothing is inconceivable in this league. Today's game v Hull is one in which we have to show greater attacking intent. Of the teams we will face in the next five games, they have the most frailties which we can exploit if JS sees it fit to permit his team to show more daring away from home, in spite of their position in the league. If not, that points differential between us and the likes of Pompey & WBA could tighten over the next five games.

I dont think its down to the manager not showing attacking intent, the players could show some basic footballing nouse and grow a pair of bollux.

Yeah I’m not having Saito playing like a shy child away from home as being on the manager. On the manager to pick him in the first place if there are other senior players available but when they cross the line you just hope they do the basics well and want it at least as much as the other team.

You forgot the Boro result which in truth is proof that if you turn up on any given day, you can get a result in this league. Bet Oxford supporters are delighted with that point
