| Hull City v Swansea City : Match day thread on 17:22 - Jan 24 with 1534 views | AnotherJohn | I'm not a big Ronald fan but I thought we lost a lot of our attacking threat when he was subbed off. The supply of good crosses from the right largely dried up. One of those games where mistakes turned out to be more important than the general quality of play. Our form over the last 4 games doesn't look so clever now. | | | |

Vipi should have buried that first chance. We're not playing badly in most of the games we're losing, but we need to start converting some of them into points.

Yet we are playing well, the form that vip is in you would have banked us to be 2 nil up and I dont think we would have fcuked that up

So what do you think we should do? Leave him rot on the bench or in the u23s or drip feed him minutes hoping he will get better.

I wouldn't have fancied Key against their number 7, Galbraith was getting ripped apart.

Key got the ball to Ronald a lot better working off each other and were causing problems, then we changed it. Ronald choice of ball into the box could have been better but we caused them problems on the right, not enough problems being caused on the left but the best crosses by Tymon should have resulted in at least one goal. Disappointed that we are not turning good away performance into more points. [Post edited 24 Jan 17:44]

Absolutely it didn't but playing Galbraith at RB has to stop. If Key or Ward are not good enough he has to sign another RB.

| Hull City v Swansea City : Match day thread on 17:12 - Jan 24 by Fireboy2 | According tp the match reports and people on our WhatsApp group we played well enough for a point against away at a team who are 4th in the league. I am looking forward to next week. |
We did. While we played well at Coventry and Stoke, I thought both those teams were better than us and deserved the win. That wasn’t the case at all today. First half was a mental penalty, two missed sitters and wonderstrike. Second was like one of those 5/10 minute spells we have where we keep the opposition pinned in their final third, but we kept it up nearly all half. They did have chances on the break, but I thought we probably deserved to win, let alone draw.

Above my pay grade Ed but it’s clear his confidence is shot. Can we afford to put him in for the length of time we did today? Galbraith is wasted there admittedly and Ward doesn’t seem to be Matos’ first choice so maybe something will happen in the next week? I will say though that the way we are playing we shouldn’t be anywhere near the bottom 3 points wise but that’s never something I take for granted. Also, we won’t be bothering the top 6 either so maybe allowing him more game time isn’t as risky as it may seem. I hope I don’t regret tempting fate by saying that!!

What I will say, is last season we wouldn’t have even been talking about those as chances, as he’d have been a couple of yards and a second behind play. People would have criticised Tymon or said we don’t get crosses in. Quite similar to Burgess’ two own goals against Ipswich, it was just really bad luck. He made perfect runs and Tymon picked him out beautifully both times.
| Hull City v Swansea City : Match day thread on 18:02 - Jan 24 with 1273 views | EagleEye | Cabango’s handball was as inexplicable as Vips two misses. Matos needs to find a different way of playing away from home, more pragmatism may be required. He needs to see that teams will attack us more on their home patch if we play such an open game. Our defence is not good enough to soak up pressure and too slow when top half teams play on the break. Our performances away from home have deserved more but the fact that we have only beaten one team in the top half all season says it all. We need to lose the gallant loser tag & be more clinical somehow | | | |

I don’t think we’ll bring another right back in after Ward. Striker to cover Vipotnik should be a much bigger priority. Matos seems to be easing him back in slowly, which seems sensible to me. If it’s confidence, it only takes one good game to skyrocket that

The handball was far worse. Strikers can miss open goals occasionally. There’s no excuse for a handball that stupid and blatant.

What about him. Unless you are comparing 1 for handling the ball for no reason (although he did claim to be pushed cough cough) 🙄 against 1 for missing 2 great opportunities.

Again, RB was and is our weak point Ward is not the answer Let’s forget Key He’s a lovely guy who doesn’t need the haters on his back Frankly,I’m getting pisssed off with Matos bleating after a game where we failed to finish chances These are well paid professionals not kids Cabango an international player that basically lost us the game with ludicrous handball and two pitiful headers from five yards out But , we mustn’t upset them or post “ hate” Fact is we are carrying too many We are also not correcting weaknesses We need to be more demanding not less

We lost that because our striker, who has been brilliant all season, missed two open goals and our captain gave away a ludicrous penalty. That’s ignoring the header he should have scored from. Matos can’t do anything about any of that. He can set us up to press, to probe, he can pick the team and make the substitutions, but he has no influence over Cabangos handball or Vipotniks chances. Had you posted something like that after the West Brom game when we’d gone 2-0 up and surrendered the initiative, I’d have agreed with you. When we actually play well and lose due to freak occurrences, it comes down to people moaning every time we don’t win, regardless of what they’ve just watched

I am along with several others, pointing out that two players contributed to the loss, not one. [Post edited 24 Jan 19:40]

Ward is 36, I doubt no matter how fit he gets that he will be tbe starting RB for every game. I am hoping that key gets his confidence back but I suspect we will carry on with galbraith there until the end of the season.
