Hello Rochdale fans. I hope you don’t mind me barging in! I’m Andy, a Hornet, hoping you might be able to help me. Way back in 1989/1990 I worked at a small publishers in Watford called Exley alongside a Rochdale supporter called Rachel Lovitt. (I remember she told me a story about being in a chippy when the team bus pulled up outside after a match and they all enjoyed a fish and chip supper!) Anyway, we went to see the B52s in London 35ish years ago. I was beginning to think that the B52s weren’t going to come back to our shores but…. they are on their way! This news got me reminiscing and I thought it would be cool to catch up with Rachel, and maybe we could even get two tickets for one of their shows in June? If anyone knows Rachel and could put us in touch, I’d be very grateful! In case it helps I think her dad, who I never met, worked as a groundsman at a cricket club. But that could just be my memory playing tricks on me!

I do hope someone comes along soon on here and helps you trace Rachel. When I read Hornet I thought you followed our tenants the egg chasers at Rochdale Hornets, no...... so you are alright.
I think we all know the Chippy you mention, it's part of our folklore. But that's not helping.

There are only 100 Lovitts in England, none in Rochdale, and no Rachels. She probably married and changed her surname.. so virtually impossible to check via Electoral Rolls... use 192.com if you have an alternative name to search with .. |  | | |

Thanks for the feedback, guys. It was always going to be a bit of a needle in a haystack job. Rachel and I were only friends, and of course she might well be married now. Who knows? But that's it; catching up on what's been going on each other's lives (possibly whilst enjoying the B52s banging out Rock Lobster) would be really nice / fun. (Oh, and by the way, I went to an egg chasing school. That and Will Carling's boring England team of the time was more than enough to put me off the funny-shaped-balls game for life!) | | | |
