Started quite well, the pitch is absolutely awful though. It’s never been the best there and god knows what it’s going to look like by winter. |  |

Ebanks is not a league 2 defender anymore. Game has been a fairly non event but small margins make games at this level. We have created nothing but nullified as well. Not Rodney bashing but once again has contributed nothing. Hannant and gillmore the standouts in an average display so far | | | |

Can’t legislate for an individual error like that. An experienced defender not checking behind him before passing back to the keeper is something that shouldn’t happen.
Not sure EEL and Sherring can play together, not enough pace - the latter is taking a bit too long to get to balls over the top.
Apart from that and concerns about Bilongo positionally, we’ve done alright. Getting the ball wide to Hannant and ZSD looks an effective tactic. The latter could be a real threat if we get it to him early enough.
Not sure we can play Rodney as the 10 in this formation though. [Post edited 8 Aug 16:01]

Absolute liability EEL with the ball at his feet, not good enough at this level. His defending for the second goal at Tranmere was just as bad during both phases of the goal. Put any quality up against him and he's a accident waiting to happen. Sherring looks the opposite, calm and composed. We're playing better than we did at Tranmere. [Post edited 8 Aug 16:01]

Rodney is not impacting the game. In that role you need to be playing in the space and either linking play or running at the defence. | | | |

Can't judge Rodney or Dieseruvwe on that half - they've had no service because we've been pinned back for most of it; so Hannant's and ZSD's threat has been blunted.
On the other hand we're stronger defensively than previous matches so been able to hold a League One side; bar EEL's error.
Looks to me like the passing between Defenders and MFs is too slow and predictable but need other options to be back from injury to improve? | |

Agree with all of that. Better performance than last week against stronger opposition, though too many misplaced passes and miscontrols/poor first touches - pitch probably not helping. | | | |

Dieseruvwe has done alright, more involved than Rodney who just hasn’t exploited the space on the rare occasions he’s got the ball. He’s so frustrating because we know the quality is there, he has to play explosively to impact the game. If he doesn’t, unfortunately I don’t see him being involved that much as the formation doesn’t suit him. | |

It’s not the type of fixture you need when trying to find your feet after the summers events. Bradford havent had to get out first and we look like a gearbox with a broken clutch.
I like many others just want to see us get going in the league and find our rhythm that way. Coming out of this game without injuries and more minutes in the tank (under stress). |  | | |

It looks like we’ll be playing out from the back just as much if not more than previously. If anything there’s more passing within the penalty area.
To do that there needs to be a ball into midfield and I’m not sure that’s on as much as it should be with the current formation unless Gilmour or East are the 10 or we employ a back three which doesn’t seem to be an option. Don’t want to make the formation a repetitive concern, but it could be.
Look quite good when we break but choices made have to be better. Brown just after he came on and ZSD on occasion.
Can’t get away from the fact that we need to be much better defensively, there’s way too much space between the players in the back line. For me, Moss would play every week as this is one of his strengths. Doesn’t matter where, but right now would rather him at left back than Bilongo. Structure is all important in keeping clean sheets and it’s obviously not there at the moment but it is early days. | |

Difficult tie with a depleted squad against a Division 1 team whose extra quality eventually prevailed. Bradford were also really up for it making it very competitive with their pressing game. Without being complacent not sure we will be up against many teams of that calibre in Division 2.
I for one am not writing EEL off just yet despite his horrendous blunder. The defence looked very shaky in the second half, but we play so deep it is difficult to pass out of our own half without major risks being taken. Agree that Moss makes us more defensively solid.
More worrying for me is the midfield balance and No 10 slot. We looked very lightweight when they started to press with purpose. Furthermore their was no route to Mani D.
Watson has a lot to work on but he might of unearthed a gem in Silcott - Duberry who looks to have a lot of promise.
Hopefully there are no further injuries and that players become available. This is an important week ahead of the Newport game and hopefully a few tweaks will be used to improve our performance.
