I only got to 3 of the friendlies so not yet seen a serious game, but should get to 5 or 6 games in Sept/Oct. Listening to Dale player and from reports we have had a decent start all round

Unless we can find another goal scoring Matt Done in the squad - striker.
Bunney and Andrew have their parts to play, but, for me, are not week in week out starters who you can rely on for 15 goals a season.

McDermott looks as good - maybe even better than Done. |
Little premature for comments like this, mcdermott has had 4 good games in a dale shirt and looks a great signing, however done has proven his worth in a shirt for 3 seasons at dale and was a class act.
Whilst we're on mcdermott, don't think it worked playing him out wide last night, he had a tendancy to wonder inside (and admittedly looked dangerous when doing so) however it not only leaves us exposed when defending, but is also one less man to play it out to when attacking to stretch the oppositions defence. There where times once he went to the right in the second half where there was nobody else on the rightside between bennett and the opposition bye-line. Much better option being given a free-reign in that central position. |  |

Ok (potentially better than Done) - I certainly dont remember Done making a similar impact in his first 4 games - the last player who hit the ground running like Donal has was Hogan - similar story also, drifting into non league then returning to fulfill his potential. He looks like he has all the ability in the world - just needs to keep working hard now and not throw away his 2nd chance. He's got the best manager to make sure he doesn't. | |
