Started off brilliantly playing it on the floor and killing them down the right. Smith always finding space then well worked goal from Moss.
Ramming & Flint having a mare and Fondop missed an open goal. We lost our composure instead of playing it on the floor Ramming is just booting it up in the air ...sorry he needs to go he is a liability and undermining everything earned so far.
Watson needs to have a good half time team talk to regain composure , we started losing all 50-50 balls towards half time.
We need to get back to passing and moving and not getting caught in possession, we can win this ... |

Game started really well for us until the injury to their winger then we lost it. 4 out of 5 loan players in the defence with most being young screwed us. I would never have started the right back today when he only trained with the team for a week ?? Defensively we were a mess and their high press forced them into errors too many times.
Mani was awful, completely out muscled by Beckles , I don't think he won a single header and he looked disinterested. Brown tried, Adeeko tried , but we were outplayed today in midfield... Stupid sending off that ended the game ...cannot think of a single positive with a lot of the stadium emptying out on 67 minutes.
IW has a serious problem with making substitutions as he could have saved this match with more tactical awareness.
Very disappointing after Tuesday night , we need to sort the defence out asap and Wilson is a liability no way is he ready for league football...praying for some defensive players coming fit...🙏 |

That was Jonny Smiths 14th minute on the pitch in total after 6 months out after a broken leg 😯
Looking forward to him getting match fit over the next month or so .... 😉
The energy last night was excellent, although as somebody else said I thought the midfield subs should have come on 15 minutes earlier as we took some pressure through tiredness and we luckily didn't concede. Kane & Adeeko were my MOTM again both worked tirelessly and showed real class.
Great result, and we must keep it going now on Saturday....🤞 |

A lot of good points spoken above and the only point I would make from an honest point is... Has the team (newly gelled in a higher league) progressed from the first game ?? Yes, it has, and to be fair to lose that goal on 87 minutes was really unlucky !! Couple this with injured players who are slowly returning I believe the first 3pts is very close. Bear in mind in yesterday's performance that the best 2 players in our team were new players.. Adeeko & Kane... That's my viewpoint.
I also thought the 433 formation suited the team he put out, granted a couple of changes in the second half strengthened the performance, but if your honest looking through the whole match performance it's the first time I really thought we should have got a point, and the Cowley's reputations for good teams was nearly outdone by IW so to me it's painful the way we have started but I am prepared to give him more time as I can see the team improving |

It's easy to just blame the manager, but the team he wanted to put out in the formation he is building cannot be achieved yet. To be fair he tried without the right players last week and it was a catastrophe. He then reverts back to a 532 with players that he has fit, and to be absolutely honest that was also a catastrophe in the first half. Why ? Because the levels are much higher and the players in critical roles don't have the time or space like they did last year ...simple, the pace is faster and the space is less...
Did he make mistakes , yes, as others have said the subs were far too late on both occasions, as after we equalised tired players which were evident in the middle of the park should have been swapped ? and then he seemed to want to accept 1pt ?? Which was then blown out by the penalty !! but to go attacking on 87 minutes when your at home this should have been much earlier and hopefully he learns.
I still want to see his formation with his players he brought in to do a job, personally, the experienced players from the higher leagues we have plus the return of injured players will bring more cohesion to the team in this league and I do feel we will see a different end result.
As a side issue the staff struggled with the new POS System today and hopefully that gets better for a week on Tuesday 🤞🙏 |

Personally, I think we will surprise a lot of Teams, and with the latest L1 player additions this will certainly add some experience in a good mix... I am going for possibly the last play off position and hopefully injuries will be kind to us later in the year to balance up what we have currently endured !!

I think when Ian can play his strongest wingers a lot of questions will be answered, the qualities of the last few signings will make an immediate impact to the squad. I'm looking forward to that time as I imagine it's only a couple of matches away. Couple this with a few injuries returning it's going to be very competitive in the team 👍 |

Agree with most appraisals so far, Rodney no good in the 10 position, EEL cannot play like this next week. Chelsea kid seems way off it....

Squad building nicely now, getting quite excited to be honest, thought there was some great inter passing a few times in the Tranmere game so looking forward to the new signings gelling....
Smith hasn't had a preseason yet, so I don't expect him to be starting in the first few games, but Brown will be ready to roll, just wondering if Watson goes 442 or 433 , good options on changing play...👍 |
