Has he applied for the new Commercial Managers job???? |

Fair enough Of course all this could have been avoided had Gateshead Council been more helpful. There is a backlash in the North East on this one. The council have been closing leisure centres to save money and want to either sell off, or let a private business or charitable trust, take over what is left including Gateshead Arena. Rather than stipulate that any new incumbent has to honour a 10 year lease, they are arguing they don't want the transfer of assets to be an issue because of a long lease. Personally I think they have lost their commonsense here as the facility should be for the benefit of the community first, second and third, and not about making the transfer to a third party operator easier. I suspect a lot of councillors will lose their seats next month. The council leader wants to take over the buses whilst trying to sell off what is left of leisure facilities. |

Would be wonderful to see the stadium full. He deserves that support for all he has done |

If somebody drops out the next team in the league take their place - I realise it might not be in the rules but this happens in many sports. Just my thoughts |

The dispute and challenge has been going on for some time. The National League have been arguing with the EFL to allow Gateshead to continue. If I was Aldershot I would be ringing the lawyers today. Surely they should take the place rather than give Solihull a bye |

I was sharing what the summariser was saying on the commentary yesterday - he was the ex Southend manager. He knows a lot more about football than you I suspect. I agree with him. Of course, if you want to drive paying fans away because you want turgid boring football then that is your choice. Sensible people will look towards better days ahead. Indeed I later commented that the second half was much better to watch - so maybe Jim adapting things at half time means he doesn't understand football either. Over to you. |

Not sure why you think it won't continue to happen. If we lose academy status in 2025 then our talent won't be recognised in the same way. We have an investor who wishes to see us move to a sustainable position. To my mind that still means selling players - unless we magically double our other revenues from somewhere. We will always be a selling club and the buyer will decide how much to pay. And we will no longer have the protection on the sale of young players moving forward that the Academy status brought. The story goes on and on.....and has done for decades But more recently, they were miffed that Simon started to define what they could have for their annual rent and it was a lot less than they used to have. Could only use half of the main stand, lost their trophy cabinet, lost their shop/office facilities, and had their sign above the front door taken down. The relationship between their previous CEO and the football club had broken down. They have a new one now and the relationship has improved. As part of the deal to buy the RFL share of Spotland the football club agreed to a long term rental deal for hornets at c£18k a year. When we were struggling last year the football club looked at this and said it wasn't sustainable. The Hornets fans you refer to wind the clock back 30 years and remind us that we wouldn't have survived without the money they put into Spotland when they sold their ground to Morrisons and began sharing with us. I am sure there is more to it than that.....but you get the idea. They have about 8 regular posters on their fans messageboard that hate the football club - but won't think of moving out. They wish us ill - one even said he would laugh if we went bust - without realising it would be the end of them too. Very bitter and horrid people. Even their own Chairman posts under a name to have a go at them. But the majority of their fans are decent people and don't get involved. [Post edited 21 Apr 10:21]

Much better watch in the second half. Glad I paid to watch it in the end. I was hoping Hendo might sign off with a goal - but great assist to let Rodders through again. Good luck to Southend too for next season after what they have been through this - they were a very decent side. Must be strong contenders next season |

Their commentator is summing up our weaknesses perfectly. He can't believe that we play it out from the back all the time if you are not good enough to find one of your own players. Its not hard from Southend to press |

I'll bet they haven't at £200. Maybe the club could buy one for the proposed dark kitchen. I'll even buy one for the players grub if they promise to 'adjust' the football philosophy. [Post edited 15 Apr 20:01]

I don't think you are alone. Hundreds of season ticket holders have stayed away from some games this season. The Board may have been focussed on pressing financial matters, but they still fail to recognise that they can't take support for granted. Look at Tuesday. Several fans travelled hundreds of miles to watch to find it was postponed. They can't change the weather but they could communicate better. No apology, no recognition of the inconvenience for travelling fans, no messages ahead of Saturday to tell people how the pitch was and what they had done to make it playable. Hornets play on it today. I am not going to take any chances on travelling this Tuesday. Its just too much hassle and risk. I am glad the season is over. I have no hope for next season at all....just hanging on to see what the Ogdens want to do. But no more of this pedestrian football please |

Looking at the wider table it is now clear that 52 points might not be enough to keep a team in this league. We have a big influence on whether Borehamwood survive or not on Tuesday. I hope we put up a fight to maintain some integrity to the competition. But I fear a drubbing as they fight for their lives. We may well end the season just 4 or so points off relegation. A season for us all to forget - I can't really find anything positive that I will remember it for. |

You're missing nowt. 1 nil down against a part time team who look far better than us |

Avoid Roch Valley like the plague. Traffic lights for Roch Valley side at the roadworks were skipping a sequence just a shortwhile ago. |

Hope the pitch holds out today. Dorking travelled yesterday and have been relaxing in the pool and sauna's at the Norton Grange overnight. I overheard them say that 36 players and staff were to be catered for - not bad for a semi-pro part time team. Lets hope they ate a large breakfast |

Aren't they on their third manager this season. It must be costing them a fortune |
