EGM + statement

Are you seriously suggesting that this has been unavoidable?

The current Chairman and Board aren't fit to run a bath, never mind a football club. The running of the club since they came in has been a disgrace, the reason the club is on the brink of liquidation is down to the running of the club since they walked through the door.

You seem to omit the statement from 2022 when the club returned to be a prudently run football club - lets face it, it never was - but that wouldn't fit in with your ridiculous defending of the current board.

You can carry on putting lots of figures, long posts and saying circa a lot - but the reason the club might not be here in two months is become of Simon Gauge and the board, no one else.

For the first time I can remember I could’ve gone yesterday, but decided against it.

The football is turgid and boring, but for me, it’s more about the way the club is being run by people who have no clue on how to run a football club. From the Chairman down, apathy runs throughout the place and I (and many others) have had enough and I won’t be stepping foot into the ground until they’ve gone.

I’ve moved away from the town now and have other things to do with my weekends, which are enjoyable - and going to watch Dale isn’t enjoyable.

I would also like to say to the staff still at the club that are being treated awfully, they all deserve much better than what they’ve got at the moment.

I watched the game between Leeds and Birmingham on Monday (I live in Leeds so try and catch them when Dale are away).

Birmingham were awful, you could see they had no plan once the first goal from Leeds had been scored and Leeds had their third choice keeper in net (first suspended, second, injured) and I can only remember one or two shots on target during the game (to be fair one of them brought a good save from the Leeds keeper)

About halfway through the second half the Birmingham supporters were singing "your getting sacked in the morning" - Leeds fans didn't show much sympathy with him being ex Manchester United! There was a bizarre moment after the game when Rooney was going to go over to the Birmingham fans, and he was promptly ushered away by someone.

You can tell in his interview with Leighanne that his feeling for the club is genuine. I think it’s very rare nowadays for a player not to roll out the cliches when signing for a new club, but he looks delighted.

I hope he breaks the record at home and gets a standing ovation for breaking such an incredible record.

Hartlepool United (h) Match Thread
at 18:03 18 Apr 2022

The rules are, if the ball is played backwards you can’t be offside, no matter where you are on the pitch, for instance, you can’t be offside from a corner (or a throw in or a goal kick, but that’s different)

For todays disallowed goal (I’ve not seen it back) Clarke didn’t look to be offside and Downing certainly wasn’t because I think he put received the ball direct from a corner. The telling part to me was that no Hartlepool players or supporters appealed for an offside.

The one I’m certain of was about 5 minutes later when the ball was played over their defence and Jimmy was in behind their full back, and he was judged to be offside, even though he had run past the Hartlepool player.

I think today (and the rest of the season) has seen inept officials give completely bizarre decisions. What annoys me is that they consistently get easy decisions wrong, I’m tired of saying how poor the Standard of officiating is!

The linesman will be relieved we scored a goal to win the game (a superb strike) because he will look back on the decision as a howler.

Nice report on Cloughie

It’s just fantastic.

Two bits stick out for me, both said by Murray:

The part about being a fan owned club
&
At the end when youngsters ask about who he is and his reply is that he’s the reason you’re here today.

After the past few months, I don’t think I’ve ever been prouder to support Dale.

I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in seeing off these chancers. The new board, everyone who has trawled for hours and hours online, digging up information that they never wanted to be public knowledge.

You’ve all done an amazing job.

A special thanks to the trust who have been incredible, not just in seeing off them off, but also keeping fans up to date, I hadn’t been a trust member for the better part of a decade, but I was more than happy to join up at the forum.

I hope that this sets a precedent for clubs like ours, that if everyone works together and pulls in the same direction, even if the odds are stacked against you, you can prevail. I also hope that the EFL and governing bodies now start to grow a pair (after this and the AlJazeera documentary) and stop things like this before they start.

Up the Dale.

Great call, as has been said his forensic digging into bury was superb and once he gets going he doesn’t stop! He’s also a very respected journalist. I will also email him:

If enough of us do it, he won’t ignore it.

The RochdaleAFC.com Podcast - Episode 49
at 17:24 17 Jun 2021

I simply cannot believe the difference between the club now and the club a month ago. It’s now got some vibrancy and as long as Bottomley goes, I will be chomping at the bit to buy a season ticket.

A good mate of mine said all the three new directors have put them self forward for supporters (via Fitz, the podcast and the chairman on the official site) where we were a month ago to now is complete chalk and cheese.

No lies, just honest answers to honest questions, we’ve been lacking that a touch recently.

When everything that happened with the lottery last year, I had a meeting with Bottomley to thrash it out. I know for a fact he lied to me about the old Goldbond system. He also said and I quote:

“Myself and other directors have taken a 50% pay cut to keep the club afloat”

He didn’t say who the other directors were, but he clear as day said he had taken a pay cut. Another lie.

Player sponsorship
at 16:24 19 May 2021

Wow, I mean where do you start?

I don’t except Frances to know every sponsor by name, but anyone in any sales role would double check before going onto social media to ask to stop being trolled by a customer!!

Spelling the name of the club captain wrong, and then saying would you like to sponsor him next season? Only problem is that it says Ollie not Eoghan. Before I send anything off official at work, I take a couple of minutes to proof read it, and trust me it saved me some interesting conversations over the years!! It’s not hard, it’s pretty basic, but too much for those at Rochdale.

Just when you think they can’t sink any lower, they do. This isn’t buryesque anymore, it’s Rochdaleesque now, and it gets worse with every passing week.

£350+vat.

So your paying over 40% more for being relegated? Another decision that shows how out of touch the club is at the moment, along with season tickets, I doubt many player sponsorships will be taken up for the coming season.

Frustrated rant
at 14:22 8 May 2021

Very good post.

I (along with others) have made the decision to not step foot into the ground until change in the boardroom has taken place and the CEO is removed.

If I’m completely honest, I’ve not been interested for months. The world has changed since we beat Rotherham last year and my priorities are now completely different, the club and football in general are not anywhere near the top of my agenda anymore. The majority of this down to the running of the club by incompetent people in positions way above their station, but I also don’t find football as enjoyable as I used to when I was a neutral watching a game.

I will watch on with interest with what happens when fans are allowed back in, I think those running the club will be in for a shock with the lack of season ticket sales etc.

A step in the right direction would be getting rid of the constant way those at the club make us think we’re punching above our weight, it’s demoralising and the fans forum was a like watching a car crash in slow motion. Since then it’s got worse, the 10 minute interview with the ceo a couple of weeks ago was clearly scripted, but again ridiculous. His comments about clubs not selling season tickets yet was a flat out lie, does he not know we can check other club websites!?

I’m hopeful that change will occur over the summer, but certainty not excepting it.
