Just heard on the radio that " Superstition " has been voted the best Motown song of all time. They've got to be joking. What about " Reach Out I'll Be There " or " I Heard It Through The Grapevine " ? |
 | Forum Thread | A Little Bird Tells Me at 10:17 7 Aug 2019
A little bird ( who has been right before ) tells me that a very young but very promising centre half may be joining the 'Dale on loan from a nearby Championship club. |
 | Forum Thread | Peter Thompson RIP at 10:47 1 Jan 2019
I see from today's paper that Peter Thompson has died. He was a flying winger in the 1960's , first with Preston and more famously with Liverpool. He made the training squad for the 1966 World Cup but was unluckily left out from the final 22. I saw him play several times and he was a very clever player with a terrific change of pace. A real pigeon catcher. He later played for Bolton. RIP Peter you were a class act. |
 | Forum Thread | Marks & Sparks at 08:52 29 Aug 2018
According to Rochdale On Line Marks & Sparks will now be moving into their new premises when it finally gets built. That's great news, maybe one or two other companies will be looking to move in. It's be interesting to see what happens to their old building. |
 | Forum Thread | Bolton players on strike at 21:42 6 Jul 2018
Apparently the Bolton players have gone on strike because of continual late payment of wages. Their friendly tomorrow has been called off. |

According to today's paper he's joined Joey Barton's coaching staff at Fleetwood. |
 | Forum Thread | The weather at 13:46 1 Mar 2018
I've lived in Rochdale since the mid 1950's but I can't honestly remember weather like this. I remember the big freeze of 1963 when there were no games of football for the best part of 10 weeks but that was a different kettle of fish. I live facing Cronkeyshaw Common and the wind is gusting the standing snow right across the common from the Syke area onto the top of Whitehall St. The waste pipe for my bathroom wash basin is exposed to the East wind and has frozen up. That's never happened before. No buses and not many taxis are operating. I need to get over to Heywood tomorrow morning. Any residents care to give me a lowdown on current weather/driving conditions in central Heywood ? |
 | Forum Thread | Burnings Hardware Store at 16:21 5 Dec 2017
I see the signage is up on the old " B&Q " warehouse for it's new occupants. Anybody know when it opens ? I've heard good reports from Aussie's that they are pretty good merchandisers. The heading should say " Bunnings " . I typed it without my reading glasses. [Post edited 5 Dec 2017 16:23]

 | Forum Thread | Stadiums Of The Future at 09:23 16 Jun 2017
There's a very interesting article in today's " Guardian " regarding the new Spurs stadium and future developments. It's got it's own micro brewery, fromagerie, and a Michelin standard restaurant plus the longest bar in the country. They'll have heated seats with built in USB ports. Tickets for premium seats will start at a mere £89. One thing I like about the stadium of the future. Apparently drones will bring you a beer to your seat ! They'll have to change the rules regarding alcohol at football matches first. |
 | Forum Thread | Callum Camps at 18:48 20 May 2017
My pal who reckons he's in the know regarding North West football tells me he's heard a rumour that Callum Camps may be on the move. Is this likely to be happening ? He gets some stories right and he gets some wrong. [Post edited 20 May 2017 18:49]

 | Forum Thread | David Moyes at 09:37 4 Apr 2017
Anybody else think the guy is getting a raw deal in the press ? We 're getting a little bit too precious as a nation. It was a bit of a " foot in the mouth " moment but for him to lose his job over it would be ridiculous. |
 | Forum Thread | J D Sports Rochdale Expose at 12:38 14 Dec 2016
Channel 4 News are running an expose of the working conditions at the Rochdale warehouse at 7.00 tonight. From the trailer I heard it sounds a really great place to work. Charles Dickens would be right at home. |

According to a pal of mine Norwich are looking to splash the cash on Hogan. It's in today's papers, if that means anything. |
 | Forum Thread | The Sexual Abuse Of Young Players at 13:20 25 Nov 2016
I've just been listening to an interview on the radio by a sports documentary maker. Apparently she was aware of these goings on twenty years ago. When she tried to raise the issue with the F A she got nowhere. Why is our National Game run by such idiots ? |
 | Forum Thread | Carlos Alberto dies of heart attack at 18:42 25 Oct 2016
The captain of the 1970 Brazil World Cup winning team has died. He was an outstanding attacking right full back in the final and scored the last goal in the 4-1 defeat of Italy. They were in my opinion the best team ever. The best England team in my time ran them so very close but no cigar. |
 | Forum Thread | New Prime Minister at 12:10 11 Jul 2016
It looks like Andrea Leadsum is pulling out of the race. Apparently she's been upset by recent newspaper criticism. If she's so easily blown off course it's just as well she's baled out. Teresa May sounded like a member of Miltant this morning. Putting workers on boards of Companies, changing the direction of the party so it's no longer the party of big business and the rich ! How stupid does she think we are ? The Tories have always been the party of the rich and the wannabe rich. I know that, you know that, she knows that. [Post edited 11 Jul 2016 12:38]

 | Forum Thread | France v Portugal at 09:42 11 Jul 2016
Not the greatest final I've ever seen. How many finals are these days though ? I thought Portugal's chance had gone when Ronaldo got crocked but they coped well with his loss. Their goalkeeper and back four played really well. The two young full backs impressed me both on attack and defence. They didn't have a lot going forward but the kept plugging away and got their reward in the end. At least the goal was a worthy end to the game. Eder made a big difference when he came on, the ball started sticking up front. France I thought will be very disappointed this morning, they never really played to the best of their ability. Their talisman striker missed a really golden headed chance. If that would have gone in I think they would have gone on to win it. That's football though, if you don't take your chances you end up paying the price. |
