43.6% voted to remain with the Tory government and 56.4% voted to leave (ok some of them NI so shouldn’t really be counted) albeit with different versions of leave.
...and yet we‘re remaining with them.
Can anyone else see the irony?

Here we go again.
What about all those that didn’t turn out that would all DEFINITELY have voted against the tories and remain and we should have another vote in 6 months time because people would have died who voted Tory/remain and all the kids who turn 18 would all vote labour and what about all the people who were in hospital who couldn’t vote as they’d all vote labour too.

That's the thing about democracy: every time there's a vote, you get a different result. The secret is in the timing. Most governments study the fluctuations in opinion polls to pick the optimum moment to hold an election. But, they can't predict the effectiveness of rival propaganda campaigns. Dominic Cummings has been a key figure imo. He had his finger on the pulse and knew what the people were thinking, whereas Labour was purely focussed on Momentum activists narrow view of the country. I think everybody was surprised by some of the seats the Conservatives won, but I did tell Emily what the people of the midlands and north would do and I was correct. I also predicted Gedling would sneak into Tory hands and they did just that. |  |

You are right. Cummings is a brilliant propagandist. He learned a lot from his years in Moscow. One of his key strategies is to find the most effective slogan and then tell his front men to keep repeating it. Take Back Control! Get Brexit Done! We can't recall any slogan from the opposition but Cummings' slogans are indelibly printed in our minds. [Post edited 22 Dec 2019 11:43]
