Interesting on Solent tonight, he's just left Genoa, worked with Spors and our temporary Manager, possibility? I do however find the situation with Lallana and the current Assistant Manager strange, they don't appear to offer anything, no voice, not on the touch line, kept there jobs, why as they appear to offer nothing?

To be fair, you could say that about most of the team!

Agreed, I actually shouted my anger towards our "players" on Saturday when Theiry Small showed more passion than our whole team when throwing the ball down when not getting a thrown in and consequently booked, than they had done up to that point, and continued to do so until Wood did AFTER the final whistle!

Just because Lallana and Trollope are still in place now, it doesn’t necessarily follow that they will stay when the new boss is appointed.

Yes, agreed, to be fair when Koeman came in, with his brother, I thought it was a good idea that Sammy Lee was bought in independently, but when Koeman left he also just "disappeared" so the continuity didn't work. WS comes in on his own with appointed staff, that didn't work, so do we have to accept that a "Manager" needs to bring and leave with all his staff?

When Still arived he couldnt bring all his staff, notably his Brothers who had worked with him, Saints wanted to keep Lallana on the coaching staff as an experienced player at the top level, they kept Carl Martin and they brought in Paul Trollope for his experience at this sort of level.

That should have been a good balance, but it seems Still didn't see it that way, he isolated himself from them, didn't seem to consult them or use them as sounding boards, I dont think it was Lallana & Trollope offering nothing they were frozen out.

Lets see what they do when the new man comes in

Thanks Nick for your insight, but you confirm this does not work as you effectively have a disjointed management team from day one, so it's never going to work long term?

I wouldnt say it was disjointed from day one, I would think that it soon became clear though there was no connection between the manager and some of his coaching staff

That’s an interesting point you make there Nick regarding WS’s brothers. Could it be they were an integral part of what made WS tick? I am thinking back to Lawrie McMenemy and John Mortimore, I remember when Mortimore left Saints he went to manage Benfica, now, we are talking about an era when you could probably count on the fingers of one hand the coaches or assistant managers as they were often called who you could name. We all knew the boot room hierarchy at Anfield, Venables No.2 and the No.2 at Arsenal and not a lot else. For a coach / AM to get to manage one of Europe’s top 20 clubs was incredible. Not that long after McMenemy departed for Sunderland, I distinctly remember an interview he did with Brian Moore for The Big Match post-game and try as he might Brian Moore just could not get a sensible answer out of Lawrie as to why he was leaving SFC. I have always wondered if he knew deep down without Mortimore he’d fail as he was the man manager and JM was the tactical brains. That I will never know… Likewise, just wondering if WS was simply not really up to it without his brothers input? Likewise, we will never know and I’m in not rush to find out! But just a thought…

You could say, by view if not complete fact, the same for Ralph and Rohl?

Looking at Viera’s record, wherever he’s been the club have either not improved or got worse and he usually goes on a long run without a win before being sacked
Although at Strasbourg his poor form could have been due to the club buying four 20-year-olds for a combined fee of €53 million which failed to work - that has a certain ring to it 🤔

Did that include Super Sekou?

Surely Vieira wouldn't have wanted to sign him???

Sounds like he would fit right in!
