He’s young and inexperienced. He’s going to make mistakes. But I make that 10 wins in 19 league games now. And he knows how to stop a rot.

We are very lucky to have him.

10 wins ffs...

Hopefully he also learnt from tonight.
It showed that with the big strikers and forward play it can and will be done.
I wonder if A. Armstrong was watching/following the game...

His points per game ratio is 34 points from 19 games, that is 1.79 points per game that is 82 points over a 46 game season, that is automatic promotion form

100 per cent. He also inherited a team in a mess, has changed our playing style and seems to have got the players playing for him. He will make mistakes of course but shows he can learn from them and put things right. Considering this is his first job he has done really well.

Even the top managers make mistakes, but he switched things around at the break and you could see the belief flooding back into the team

He turned it round at the break. He turned it round after the Will Still disaster. And he turned it round when things dropped off shortly after he was appointed.

Totally agree
I would like to see us play both up top like we ended today
Most defences would hate that

It's such a roller coaster ride. But full credit to Tonda. That's quite something turning around a 3 nil deficit. And getting these players to turn it around like that as well. What a night to remember.

100% what you said DorsetIan.

Anyone with half a brain (that excludes most on SaintsWeb!) can see that he has the potential to be an excellent manager. He clearly has the players playing for him and is a very quick learner.

To take this squad from where they were to 10 wins in 19 games is quite incredible. EVen during the 7 games without a win we only lost 3.

And I don't doubt for a minute that what he said after not comng out from the dressing room for an hour had a galvanizing effect on the squad - they've been a very different team since that game.

And I've no doubt his team talk had a significant effect tonight.

if he had picked the right team to start we probably wouldnt have been three down, picking archer meant we went back to tip tap football,so we get rid of armstrong because hes just not a number 9 and replace him tonight with a crappier version, unbelievable

Why anyone would focus on the negative after a result like that is beyond me.

I don't think you're quite reading the room this morning.

There was a lot to like about last night.

1. The result, obviously.

2.He picked a starting 11 with an idea in mind (He is the Head Coach after all...he's allowed to have ideas). Then, like most of us, he realised it hadn't panned out too well and he set about putting things right. Those changes were made quickly enough to reverse the 1H clusterf**k.

3. Those coming off the bench gave 110% even though some might have been pissed off they didn't start.

4.Bench strength for a long busy run-in is absolutely critical. Looks like he knows that.

I liked his appointment and I like what he's done so far.

Scoring 5 in one half against Charlton and now coming from 3 down.
Saints just don’t do that, not during the time I’ve supported them anyway.
No matter if we get to the playoffs or not, we’ve had some memorable results.
Especially after the misery of last season.
Was a bit nervous when Perez came out to try and stop their 2nd goal. Thought he might bring him down and get sent off

I'm a bit bemused by those on here this morning (you know who you are) who are using last night as a chance to slag Eckert off via Archer.

I don't remember Archer being in goal when the keeper might have done better. I don't remember Archer being hesitant in defence. I don't remember Archer putting their bloke in on goal with a shithouse back-pass. I do, however , remember those things causing us to be 3 down after 30 minutes.

After that I remember Eckert, rather than just hoping to keep it below 9, made quick wholesale changes to the personnel and shape that enabled us to creep back into the game and, ultimately, nick it.

Good management + excellent respone from the players + a bit of good fortune = great result.

As I mentioned in another thread the thing with Tonda I think, is that they trust him. He defended Archer last night in his interview after the game, (he doesn't change his opinion with the wind, after the event), he said the turnaround was down to the players and therefore the players trust him not to throw them under the bus. Will Still was far less "behind the players" in his interviews. I do think that the players trust Tonda and that's part of why he is getting more out of them and they respond to him
