Did Ward Prowse play today?

Saints playing like a top 10 team - which is where they would now be but for some many points blued away in the first
half of the season ! No real complaints today, though the goal that was conceded points to a need to sharpen up our defense on free kicks. Forster continues to justify his return. Monster performance by Salisu, but everyone was really good, with KWP and Romeu stand outs for me. We have got our mojo back at St Mary’s, we don’t lose. Good feeling about the team - and the club as a whole - right now.

Great team effort. Beat back wave after wave in the second half and played like a team, everyone put in a shift and should be proud of their play. Move forward and upward.

In answer to I Would: didn’t his two corners create two good chances with one being saved, the other hitting the post. JWPs overall performance this season confirm him to be the best Academy graduate since Shaw.

First half was best 45 mins at SMS this season. The attitude and intensity from the players was spot on and City for all their skill struggled to deal with it. Inevitably City upped their game in the second half and although we rode our luck at times a draw was a deserved result. Salish was a monster but virtually every player gave their all. Redmond was off the pace in the first 45 and despite assisting the KWP goal there was little else and too many passes were over hit so it was correct to sub him at half time although Elyounoussi didn’t do much more in the second 45. The Che/Borja combo up top gave us a presence and threat which kept City honest and gave the defenders a little respite from the attacks. Overall a great team performance.

Very impressive first half with a plan that very nearly tore city’s defence apart, could easily of gone 2-0 up if only a slightly quicker pass or delay on the run made.
Even early in the second half if only a slightly better placed header. Defended for our lives at times and ride our luck a little bit late on but we deserved and earned that luck.
Thought Armstrong was lucky he did not see red card and a great substitution immediately to take him off afterwards.

Once again, we are a team to be feared. Remember the 0-1 Tadic smash a grab. This was a perfomance to match that. Salisu was as good as VVD ever was. The whole defence (inc Romeu and JWP) played superbly and the transistion when we got teh chance was brilliant. Evert outfield player played well, positioning was perfect Forster is imposing and good when he can see where threat is coming from, but he does seems to stand still a lot when undecided.

Still that was a performance to build the rest of the season on, but sadly we have no hope of signing Broja. Enjoy him while we can. Chelski will want him back.

Another 2 points lost to a defensive error. Simply not good enough!!!....

....Meanwhile back in the real world.....fantastic performance, matched up to one of the best sides in the world. Almost won Broja just offside. Mind you if he had scored we wouldn't have a chance of buying him.

Salisu was absolutely sensational. Quick, stunning tackles, great positional sense.

Perraud put a fantastic level of effort in kept Sterling and then Jesus quiet.

Romeu broke up just about everything in midfield.

KWP again showed why he should be picked regularly on the right. Grabbed his chance to show why he should be first choice RB.

Everyone though played out of their skins. Armstrong looked to be getting back to his old self.

VAR again tried to spoil things - if you can't seean obvious error after looking after say 3 times then why keep on looking?. Luckily sense prevailed on both decisions.

Ralph has worked wonders after last season's collapse.

Crowd sounded fantastic.

This is why we want the big boys to stay, every Saints fan, apart it seems from I-Would, must have had the same feeling of euphoria, because we tested ourselves against the best and came through it with honours!
Every player shone, nobody let us down and the atmosphere in and out of the stadium was electric.
I had said that Salisu had been showing his lack of experience lately but seemed like a giant last night, Forster maybe just earned a contract (with a slight pay cut maybe) and KWP must have made Ralph consider playing Livramento elsewhere, the midfield worked incredibly hard and the two up front harried, pressed and held the ball up when needed. Super performance and one that gives us a bit of confidence and Ralph the basis of his team talk for Tottenham!

Great all round performance. Broja's price seems to be going up with every performance, I hope we are saving up. Great goal but if I can be critical KWP still needs to work on his defending of set pieces as he was only player moving out of the penalty area when the cross came over. All in all though great character shown throughout the team against one of the best teams around.

A great defensive display and a really hard won point. If the passing had been better on the counters, who knows, perhaps we would have come away with 3 points? Salisu was immense but the whole team put in a shift.

Because I just love to be marked down, I will ask why Redmond has marked so low? So low in fact he scores less than the two subs who played less than 15 minutes!
He got an assist for the goal and our performance down the flank went downhill after his substitution.
I know he's not by any means our best player but he creates a good understanding with whatever full back he plays with, works really hard and his pace scares teams. Most of our good results he has been part of???
Its just a question for you to consider :)

I thought that Redmond had a decent game, as you said he had an assist for the goal and he is a player who is usually involved when we score goals, he has an end product, yet some can't give him any credit, even when we have had a good result

In Kyle Walker-Peters first league start in his preferred position - right back - he scored a brilliantly built up, well executed goal after about 7 minutes - when he got a cut back pass from Redmond inside the right side of the box, took a quick touch before smashing it into the back of the net - leaving Ederson with no chance at all.
City, dominant in possession, equalized with Laportes headed goal from a brilliant freekick from none other than K De Bruyne, in the middle of the second half, but before that we could actually have made it 2-0 (Broja).
We fought heroically and held on for a well deserved point.
Great performances from especially:
KWP
Forster
JPW
Salisu
Stu Armstrong

Salisu was awesome, Redmond's intervention on de bruyne waspoint winning, JWPs delivery was pin point and on the whole team put in a shift. Rode our luck a few times but on the whole I thought we did a good job on them

Bit one-sided. I don't really enjoy these sort of matches. Great goal though, up there with the best of the season so far.

The following stood out for me:
Romeu's passing
Stu's "running around"
Sally's MOTM performance
Romain's huge effort
KWP's goal and linking on the RHS
Getting the VAR breaks for a change

I'm going to start by saying well done to RH.

He saw that Redmond was off the pace and changed him early. He protected Bednarek and then Armstrong when they were carded by replacing them. He played with two strikers which meant that the City back line was unable to push on and support like we see them do when team sit back.

Forster was exposed for their goal. City had three players waiting to head that in (although two of them had come from offside positions.

The back four was tight and didn't allow much space even when Grealish (tart) dropped deeper to get the ball. KWP of course scored a really good goal.

Romeu got under the skin of Grealish which I think he was unhappy about being the wind up merchant he usually is. JWP had a captains game and only ranks so low this week because his teammates stepped up to his level. Armstrong and Ely were solid with the former looking to move forward as often as he could.

Forwards were busy all night and could have got a couple more with some luck.

All round good performance but hat's off to RH.
