Saints Expected To Start The Salisu Bidding

squeak through again? I may be a ludicruus optomist (!) but we are playing brillaint football of the like not seen since Koeman. Our high press is destroying teams and JWP is having the season of his life. I am looking at the fixtures and dreaming, assuming Ings, Stephens, Bednarek, Armstrong and JWP stay fit...I think this is realistic.

26 more points, 56 for the season, pushing top 6! My £40 at 4.5/1 on a top 10 finish is looking tasty.. as is my £100 on liverhampton at 3.6/1! Happy days, but it would see us pillaged again in the summer.

Hasenhuttl Is Not Afraid To Play The Youngsters
at 10:17:53

Krisaint, I agree completely. Targett is our best crosser by far, but never goes past anybody/overlaps, Bertrand has been our best player for 18months. On the other side Valery looks like a rabbit in the headlights and is going to be destroyed by Sane.

The one plyus point is Obafemi over Long. Shane was brilliant in teh Koeman team, but his days are numbered now and I failed to see why Hassenhutl brought in on against west ham.

The only way we are not going to get hammered this afternoon is if we score first and Man City feel the pressure.

Never Minds The Transfers Here's The Free Ice Creams !
at 17:36:38

My kids, who I am bringing to their first ever Saints game on sunday. I have high hopes that CA will play 25+ games and Manolo will be suited to Hughes style of play. We have a more likely midfield (Lemina's 2nd season, Armstrong and Elyounoussi ) so I don't think we we struggle for goals...3 days before the first game, we have to be optomistic! You never know, this might be Josh Simms's breakthrough season.

I really like the way Saints did their business this transfer window.

2-0 to Saints: Armstrong and CA to score

Saints Announce Big New Signing
at 18:47:11

Great signing that fits the Saints template. I have a sneaky feeling that next year we will see a 'new' CB in Bednarek. He looked the buisness at the latter end of next season and was impressive in an otherwise lacklustre polish side at the world cup. With Hoedt in his second season and stephens as back up, I am not concerned.

I would also like to to Simms be given a chance to establish himseld in the first team. A livewire, with extreme pace, if he can just sort out his decision making, he could be a great home grown player.

Feeling really positive about next season. COYRs

This is why I support Saints...bring on the rollercoaster...It will have despair and triumph, quicken the pulse, put holes in the ceiling and see the dog sloping away in fear. Should be able to get to 2 of these games and can't wait

Ward Prowse 3rd In Power Rankings Table

Saintmark76: I first started watching saints with Jimmy Case caressing the ball and David Armstrong bossing the midfield and thundering in 10 goals a season. They were both proper players

Pellegrino Now Has To Show He Can Get It Right !
at 16:31:19

March will be key...we need at least 10 pts from those 5 games or else we will be in the doo doo's. The 5 of the last 6 games are tough and unless we are playing really, really well we are not going to be climbing the table once April has started. We have to be safe by April fools day...

Day 29 ! Where Is The Central Defender ?
at 10:08:31

Needed on the Ugly inside, but not by the team. In Stephens, Yoshi, Hoedt and Bedarnek, we have cover and potential. What we need is the ability to convert the huge number of chances we have into goals...(Shane missed a bucket load again on Saturday).

Even defences with VVD in them are not impregnable, and when is trying he was the best player to pull on a Saints shirt since Le Tiss.

Saints Land Carrillo

Phew! I am feeling increasingly good about this one and the idea of Manolo or CA playing off a big front man is pretty exciting.

Saints Have £19.5 million Bid Accepted
at 17:43:26

We played PEH as a centre-forward against Tottenham, gave the team much better shape and I am sure Carillo would have slotted that chance on 8 mins or so. I have previously said he was a donkey...but hope I am wrong, anyone who can score from crosses is precious for saints...with Bertrand and Ward prose, we do create the opportunities.

Saints V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict
at 16:12:35

I think the improvement since the new year is underway.

Good point away at Old Trafford where we matched Manure and could/should have won it was it not for a wonder save by De Gea
Great first 60mins against Palace, but messed up 2nd half and lost
Beat Fulham away
Robbed by ref and cheat at Watford away and a superb first half
A solid point with the better chances against a Tottenham...and importantly we played well for the whole 95 mins.
If we can sign a goal scorer, win next week and pick up 4-6 points against Brighton and West Brom the season will be transformed...sadly if we cant then it is squeaky bum time.

Saints V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict
at 10:36:09

Great report but minor correction, PEH was playing as centre-forward in first half! As I said on the report if this was Pellegrino's attempt to show what we need in January to Les then...Job done!

Great atmosphere and the Spurs fans after initially trying it on with 'When the Spurs', and 'Harry Kane's scored more that your team'...helped the atmosphere enormously and were put well and truly in their place with 'Harry Kane, he's off to Madrid'.

Bring on Swansea away (my closest away game) and I'm looking forward to another rendition of 'Swing Low'.

Saints Move A Step Closer To Carrillo
at 13:30:14

Donkey alert!!!...I saw one in a field on a walk the other day and it was a lot less than £15m!

Check out Guido'd skills on Youtube, or rather lack of them..a mix of tap ins and followups.

Might perform a role, and score from the odd cross but he is no Pelle or CA

Where Is The Central Defensive Signing ?
at 18:59:55

I agree with almost all comments, the defence, whilst troubled by injuries is in decent shape. Rather it is our conversion rate of chances to goals that's been simply appalling for the past 2 years (ever since Mane/Pelle/Long tore it up). Gabby flickered and could come again, and CA is decent when not crocked. But we need someone whose default is not to hit is straight at the keeper! I like and rate Theo, should he be prepared to return, but having looked at Guido Carrilo on youtube, whilst a decent target man, he is no Pelle.
