What a brilliant goal....superlative counter-punch and I have to say I never saw that in Oberfemi....CORYS
at 21:02 16 Dec 2018
The way he bossed it in the first half and strode forward with the ball had me thinking of VVD, if he turns out to be half as good we might just have a man to lead the defensive line. He was really good in the first game of the season as well. Just went missing for a while!

Or not! Most of the time he was perfect, just the flag went up...same linesman who gave Manolos goal offside in the Cup

what do Burnley and celtic think of us? Sadly until the finances equalise (no chance!) football can best be described as a food chain. The club did the right thing last summer offering key players (including VVD) improved terms in exchange for long term contracts.

Didn't take long.....calling all quality strikers being ignored by national sides.....come and play for Saints.
1.8 Trillion in debt
at 16:24 14 Mar 2017
That calculator is wrong.
if we were borrowing £5,170/seconds it is 163billion p/a... more than we borrowed in 2009/10, last time I looked it was more like 45 billion £1,400/s.
Total debt is massive at 1.64 trilion but not as much as the 1.8t in that calculator, It is now starting to fall as a % of GDP (82%), but is likely to rise again if the economy checks/falters as a result of Brexit. We are spending £68b on debt interest payments, about as much as we spend on defence and environment combined.

Assuming Manolo stays fit and VVD and CA are back for April and VVD pairs well with Caceres I think we can aim higher. I reckon:
Lose to Tottenham and Chelsea
Draw with Man C Man U and Liverpool
And win 6 of the other 7.
This would give 6 wins, 3 draw and 3 losses from the last 12 games and 54 pts which would be a good return and hopefully see us finish 8th/9th (as long as we beat Stoke on the last day)
I have been described as a ludicrous optimist before!

Caceres looks like a big upgrade on the 16/17 Fonte. Paired with VVD and it will be coolness personified at the back for Saints....Feck we could have a good first team!

Liking the look of Caceres. Has to start against Spurs. PEH also looking good
Excited by this team
at 07:52 28 Feb 2017
So am I, but I was excited enough at the end of last season to waste £10 on us to win the EPL! (With a view to laying off!). Then came the summer and the loss of Roko and Mane
The key is whether we can rebuild the defense and that probably means keeping VVD. I hope we honour him with a salary cap busting pay rise, and he sees the potential in this team.
It is just a joy as a saints fan to be always looking up the table.
This year I am hoping for 8th/9th, I don't think we can catch Everton. Next year, no Europa should see us start well and let's see if we can hold it better than 14/15 and after experiencing this wonderful EPL experience, make a serious effort in the cups.

Great game, well played saints, you made me proud before Zlatan stole it from us . I don't want to pick on any player. I manola we have a serious player, possible our best CF since Alan shearer, JWP had a superb game, Yoshi was fab, covering like VVD.
This is going to take a while to sink in
at 07:23 15 Feb 2017
I hope he is with the squad training, while the club waits for the work permit to come through.

agree, I think cedric has really come on this season as an attacking full back as well. He is lightening quick.
If we can by some miracle keep VVD, matched by Caceres or Schur in the centre of defence and OR has a season like this one, then we really will be a force to be reckoned with next season.
I am always glass half full, but match this optimism about saints with being an Englishman living in Wales and it really is a good time!
President Trump seen as an inspirational leader by most Europeans
at 15:21 10 Feb 2017
Aye I did, It was superb, one of the best bits of TV I have ever seen. I see the need to for countries to work together to solve things like climate change and defence, but the euro looks doomed. I loved the line at the end...it might be that when we have finished arguing whether we should be in europe or not, there will be no europe to be in!
We just need to make sure that in the that impending crisis we don't lose out in another "shock doctrine" and loose sight of the need to stop degrading the environment we need to survive.
