Probably not, but it's all we have now transfer window has closed and they would stand a better chance if they were in and around the box, rather than hugging both flanks. [Post edited 7 Sep 12:17]

Matt, I don't think there is a forward line ? They all seem to hug the flanks and when players like Diaz do move into centre up front, there is no service. This is how the team have been set up, nothing really to do with Sports Republic. |

I think the reason he is on 'trial' as you suggest is because he shows no sign of changing and it is obvious to most that his current style and tactics will not work in this division. We only just made promotion last year, when we should have been top 2 (or 3) with that squad.
As for Sports Republic doing their due diligence, I did not see any reason for their decision to extend his contract at this stage, when he still had 2 years left and a lot to prove at this level. I would have been surprised if anyone else would have come in for him and if they did he would be have still been under contract. [Post edited 5 Sep 8:38]

Unlikely.
Our biggest chance of staying up is getting maximum points from teams in the lower half of table
We drop too many points to the mid/low table teams, especially at home where we should be banking on 3 points.
We are just so easy to play against. |

Just listened to Martin's BBC Interview.
He kept saying we should have had 2 goals. What he forgot to say was that Brentford should have had 4 if they finished better !
I really struggle to listen to this clown. He is deluded. I just wish some of the management team around him or even senior players would speak up.
Why SR thought they had to give him a new contract so early was crazy, or did they think they had to move now to stop Man City poaching him when Pep leaves. |

What we need is one of the senior players to voice their concerns about the tactics being deployed. e.g. KWP, Downes or even Ramsdale.
He wouldn't dare drop them indefinitely for speaking out. If he did he would have one hell of a job explaining their absence. I wouldn't be surprised, if there were mumblings going on already within the team, despite Martin saying the team enjoy this style of play.
Judging by Harwood-Bellis reaction after being subbed, I wouldn't be surprised if he spoke up. [Post edited 31 Aug 19:26]

Does this mean every time we have a mid week game, players get a rest if next game is on Saturday ?

I thought Lallana showed some nice touches in his brief outing. Dibling was the one positive from that performance, but will probably be dropped again next game, for daring to shoot from outside the box. |

We may have been outclassed all over the pitch but at least we had more possession.
This nonsense and obsession with playing around from the back must stop. Brentford were lining up 4 players on our box to stop us doing it and we still carried on. |

Awful 1st half. No different from our 1st two games. Toothless up front and the 2 really decent opportunities we get Armstrong fluffed.
Again, the 5 at back with 3 CB and 2 wingbacks is not working. Smallbone and Aribo need to be off for 2nd half.
Diaz is only hugging the touch line from 5 yards in now, not on the line, so that's progress.
The tactics really have to be questioned. |

I am not sure it would have made any difference if he had known.
I didn't see many other clubs registering an interest. I agree he has been a good servant etc, but lets not forget he was handsomely rewarded for an average keeper. I don't think any other club would have given him such lucrative contracts.
Ramsdale is a massive upgrade and still surprised we landed him. |
