Switched Monday night sevens league to Paradise Park in Finsbury Park a couple of years back.
Got our absolute ars handed to us in our first game, like 10-0 or something daft, and we're not a bad side (albeit getting on in years).
Oppo had quite a handy striker... Hogan Ephraim.
Still have to play against him twice a season but luckily I've done enough to occasionally be asked to fill in for his team when their keeper is away, so I get to be on the fun side of the thrashings every now and again.
And possibly I was just at a good age for it. Moving away from home for the first time, going to games with mates etc. I'd also found the 5 years between the Premier League and Second Division utterly soul destroying for so many reasons on and off the pitch - but primarily watching Karl Ready.
And us the first time round of course. Both great fun trucking round the Second Division, but also a much needed reset and rebuild for the whole club and team. We came back utterly transformed, and it's a real shame instead of making the most of that we basically became Paladini's play thing.
I'm not convinced there are the brains and ability at the club to be able to do that again. I see us going more the way of Charlton if it were to happen. But the Cifuentes appointment could dissuade me of that.
Obviously only should have been a one year stay, giving him another two years on top of that is right up there in our recent nonsenses.
But obviously a good guy and pro, and I was really impressed that in the final year of a long career he was still turning out for the development squad with the young lads this season when I suspect the vast majority of players in his position would have said fck that. Good for the young kids to be playing alongside somebody like that who's had a terrific career in the game. And a big one in the eye for twts like Taylor who can't even be arsd to train and play for the firsts, never mind the reserves.
Enormously, almost lethally thick. Massively, almost impossibly arrogant. Unimaginably, almost unfathomably rich. Surrounded his whole life by acolytes and hangers on telling him he's a legend.
Got invited on somebody's podcast after a win, which was a weird experience for everybody involved. "Some people are using the word 'unprecedented'" - Mark Warburton.
New pod now out 🚨

Not one moan or negative comment….well, maybe a couple
I know! Didn't go to the game. Didn't watch the whole game. Just stepped out of his mate' 30th birthday to have a rant into YouTube from an alley behind a pub.
