Saints At Burnley The Verdict

Will staying in the Premier League be seen as a success? This season should have been a whole lot better....unless we also win the FA Cup!

Everyone supporters, and pundits expected a top ten finish at least this season. As each week goes by relegation look more likely.

Saints V Watford The Verdict
at 12:15:52

Firstly, we never get a good result after an international break. Second, I think the whole VVD affair has ruined this coming season for us and maybe also the take-over which had been on and off throughout the summer. We should have sold VVD from the moment we knew he wanted to leave because it is pointless letting something like that drag on no matter what the argument is about player power etc. And now we expect a new manager to sort all this out. We don't have a squad half as strong as it was a couple of seasons ago and that's not the manager's fault. We need to see this season out, hopefully sell VVD in January, and let the manager find his feet. We've seen too much managerial turnover and need to re-establish ourselves. We could have had Frank De Boer by the way......

Forster Likely To Be Rested After Having To Play Through Injury !

It's not that he should have saved a point-blank header from Ibrahimovic he should have taken it off his head, nevertheless, if he has been forced to play through injury then credit to him.

What Really Cost Saints The League Cup Final !
at 12:18:12

Good article. If anyone watched last night's Leicester/Liverpool game they would have seen Vardy make the same tackle on Sadio Mane, only Mane was lucky enough to continue playing. There are many reasons why Saints never won on Sunday but if VVD had played I'm sure we would have.

Saints V Arsenal The Verdict

I don't recall Puel thanking the fans after the Liverpool game and it seems that he doesn't care for what they think either. He said he's waiting on an assessment for Virgil before deciding on whether to buy on the transfer window. We should have a much better squad than we have right now if we had replaced the players we lost last summer.

Puel is supposed to be an experienced manager. He's not going to learn these basic things now, because it's the way he works. It's time for him to replaced before it becomes a hopeless cause.

Saints V Sunderland The Verdict
at 18:56:58

Before the game RK said "Don't expect another 8-0" - but why not? Ok, so 4-0 then! It's certainly the got to be the right attitude for starters. Sunderland always put up a resistance but they ain't Chelsea or Man City.

Agree with SaintBrock about Yoshida, at least his heart is in it as I don't think that applies to all of them. He had a good game against West Ham and scored the decisive goal which brings me to say that without going back and checking, the defence seem to be scoring more than the strikers over the past couple of months. Mane has completely gone off the boil. I never thought that this season would be as good as the last but it hasn't been bad. Overall it's just been a strange season all round. As for Europe, we need a better squad and few more exciting, creative players to compete. The only thing that brings most disappointment is our failure to progress further in the FA and League cups.

Saints At West Bromwich Albion The Verdict
at 17:15:04

The players are simply tired and worn down and the pressure of maintaining a top four position with the expectations of the fans is too much. There was no expectation at the start of the season as by all accounts we were doomed. We've had 13 different goalscorers this season which is incredible, so yes we just haven't become a bad team overnight - we've become a poorer team over the last couple of months. I wonder about the commitment of Clyne and Schneiderlin, reading every week how they are expected to leave in the summer.

Saints Replicate Last Season's Start ! Panic Over !
at 09:03:27

I think we are an unknown quantity to many teams at the moment after getting used to our style last season, other teams started to get the measure of us. Hopefully that won't be the case this season and Koeman can mix things up a bit.

Eleven Points From The Last Ten Games !
at 12:27:05

I think we'll do enough to claim 9th spot and no higher. But after all is said and done, it's been a good season on the whole, an improvement on last season, and it's a lot clearer on what we need to do to improve again come next season. I think we lost that winning mentality partly due to not having good enough players to back up our key players when they had injuries. Also by not going all out to win in the cup competitions didn't really help much seeing as we never came up against a decent side.

Totally over-critical. We've not had a performance like this for a long time so why, all of a sudden is everybody on everyones back? Of course we need to improve, and vary our style from time to time. The time to worry is when we string 2 or 3 performances like this together. Looking back, we've had a good season. All everybody wanted at the start was to avoid going back down and we will.

How This Weekend's Fixtures Affect Saints
at 13:23:30

Why not Sunderland "because of their manger"? Everybody agrees he was a great player. Is it because of his political views? Is it because he is may be a racist? If it is then why didn't anyone make a fuss whren he was manager of Swindon and why has he not been kicked out of football? You made me laugh at that one Nick.

Time To Get Behind "ALL" The Players
at 12:19:21

Well said and I totally agree. I remember when Paul Jones used to get similar treatment in goal from some sections, even though he was good shot stopper and had some terrific games for us. What exactly has Guly done to deserve this kind of abuse? Some of the crown think that he doesn't give 100% and at times looks lazy, but as you say Adkins picks the team, he thinks he's good enough and that should be respected.
