The US had one of the most paralyzed performances I’ve seen by a nation that had previously been on such a roll. It’s like all the drama surrounding the team after the Balogun drama suddenly amounted to so much pressure, they just couldn’t handle it. Balogun himself looked really bleak.
I failed to mention Colombia’s quite comfortable 1-0 win over Ghana, but I want to make it very clear that Colombia are starting to become real contenders. They were better than Portugal by some margin in their group stage game, and they dismantled a Ghana side that gave England trouble. They play Switzerland tonight at 9 PM, so perhaps I will have to eat my words. I hold Colombia as favorites vs either Egypt or Argentina and can honestly see them overcoming Norway/England to make the final. |
