Anyone Remember The Old Ice Rink
at 11:24 31 Oct 2026

'Breaking Down The Walls of Heartache' by the Bandwagon sold very well in the UK but hardly got a sniff in the USA.
The group also released 'Blame It On The Pony Express' which also did well in the UK.
I vaguely remember that Stevie Wonder was one of the first acts (possibly the opening act) at the Top Rank.
Personally didnt enjoy Saturday nights at the Rank.
Much preferred it when the upstairs bit of the building opened as 'The Metro' (either on a Tuesday or Thursday) starting at 1000pm and finishing at 0200am.
Music was much more to my taste as someone who had cut his teeth on Soul music at the Adam & Eve club.

Anyone go to the old speedway stadium
at 11:15 31 Oct 2026

Barry Briggs used to live on one of the big houses in Chilworth not far from the Clump Inn.
One of his lads used to play for the Clump Inn FC.
The family owned or part owned a gold mine in Wales>
Apart from that I know nothing about Briggo and his family!!

Anyone go to the old speedway stadium

I am pretty certain that the Speedway Stadium also hosted greyhound racing as I remember hearing the dogs whining in their kennels when watching Hampshire cricket next door.
I think the Speedway Stadium had a similar capacity to The Dell so could have potentially been the home of the Saints bearing in mind it probably was sat on a larger footprint.

Dont want to see gimps with pints throwing it around near me
at 16:19 25 Sep 2026

This brings back a memory to me of when I used to visit Liverpool as a kid and got taken to Anfield or Goodison Park by my cousins.
One year Liverpool were playing at home to Juventus in a European Cup game and I was supposed to meet my cousin outside the Boys entrance.
By mistake I ended up in the Kop, which was an experience in more ways than one.
As a nipper I couldnt see a great deal but what fascinated me was the amount of older blokes who used to use rolled up newspapers as funnels to piss into.
There was one bloke who actually directed his funnel into another supporters Mac pocket and then joked to his mate that he didnt want to get his new suede shoes wet.

As a 12 year school kid, I had read about a cricketer being hit on the temple with a cricket ball and died overnight.
All I knew about the temple was that it was in the head so when I played as wicket 'keeper the next day for my school against Portsmouth Grammar, I think (Trevor Jesty was in their team), the ball hit the top of the stumps and hit me right between my eyes.
It hurt!!
Worse thing was on the bus home I dredged up the story from the previous day's paper and thought this may be my last night in bed.
Took me a while to get to sleep but I woke the following morning feeling I had survived the night and was further reassured when my Mother explained that the temple was on the side of the head not positioned between the eyes!!

That's the problem I'm afraid, separating the decent people associated with Portsmouth FC and the knuckle draggers who want to cause problems with people associated with Southampton and to a lesser degree those who reckon the bad feeling is due to a made up Dock Strike.

Carabao Cup Ticket Chaos For West Ham Cup Tie At St Mary's

I believe Bradford offer up low price season tickets (around £200 ish?) and that is why they have been playing in front of near capacity crowds at Valley Parade in recent years.

New Saints History Book And Maybe The Last

Duncan and Gary are no longer spring chickens so bearing in mind their last Post War History ended with Season 2002/3 then they may not be in a position to undertake all the research involved to do a third edition in 2050 when the club has moved onto greater glory in th World Wide Infantino League Championship and playing in front of 80,000 home crowds in the Trump family Socca Supadrome on the banks of the Itchen.

5 Things About Watford

No sympathy with any of you young whippersnappers who were disappointed about Sunday's game.

I still have flashbacks of walking out of Vicarage Rd after a 7-1 walloping against Third Div Watford in a League Cup game after we had won the first leg 4-0

Pompey Bid For City Of Culture

The Titanic Museum in Belfast cost £75m, half of which was Govt funded

Sea City in Soton cost less than half of that so this probably explains the disparity.

I have been three times but most of my mates dont even realise its there and complain there is nothing to do in Southampton

In the Championship!!

That said, there were reports of around 20,000 sold last year so credit to the fans if that number has been exceeded this season.

I have a relative who works in the Police force and some of the stories I have been told in the course of their duties underlines the daily challenges and dangers those in uniform face.
It is not just the police but the Fire Brigade, NHS staff as well.
Taking a detached view of the circumstances relating to the stabbing in St Denys it is understandable that there is a sense of outrage.
That said the police attending the scene would have been influenced by the murderer and his brother and would not have immediately been aware of the stabbing.
There have always been challenges being a police officer but these have ramped up in recent years. It is no wonder that many young people joining the force only last a short while and recruitment is a major problem.
It is right and proper that there should be an investigation into the events surrounding the stabbing but the involvement of a known football thug, a failed actor and worst of all a US billionaire stirring up anti police hate does not help the situation at all.
