We need Socialist or even Communist economic policies
at 17:40 10 Oct 2026

It has to be mixed because capitalism doesn't work for the masses either, it just takes longer to become apparent, we are seeing it today.

Democratic socialism is working in Nordic countries though. That's what we should be doing.

Swansea City v Norwich City : The Indy Match Thread
at 16:18 10 Oct 2026

Yes we were second best in the first half.Yes we gave up too may chances. Even so we battled on for a win. In the previous 5 years we were losing these kinds of games. We all know we can play better but the result is everything right now and we won. We hav a big 2 weeks coming, Millwall away, WHU home and then QPR away. better to go into that with a hard fought win that we were maybe lucky with, than a loss.

Booze Runs to England

Total nonsense and a complete failure to understand history. Nothing in England was Welsh, it was Celtic. There are still plentynof place names in England with Celtic links, try Avon, Derwent, Exe, Frome, Lune, Tees, Darent and Stour. Penrith, Pendle and Coombe. Or maybe places you have heard of, London, Leeds, York, Carlisle, Dover, Kent and Canterbury. There are many hybrid names such as Doncaster and Lichfield. Manchester, Exeter, Leicester or Gloucester.

The fact you think these place names are only English displays your ignorance of the history. There are Celtic names across Europe,

Not in your lifetime. What we need is policies that actually work regardless of being left or right.
Put simply if a policy is a good idea just do it, be it left or right. Look at Mamdani in NY. He is a democratic socialist so mostly left wing but with common sense. Then look at Nordic countries, Norway is an excellent example.

If we continue to go either left OR right with no common sense then we are screwed.

Because that wasn't a good solution, do you understand that when people cannot afford food, if you take even more of their earnings away AND raise tax on what they are trying to buy it makes thigs even worse?

Have you heard of the Laffer curve? https://www.investopedia.com/t

French Economy in Trouble

The EU should never have been anything mor than a trade bloc. We'd still be members then. If it had a better grasp of economics and kept a lid on prices thingsb wouldn't be so bad today.

The political integration nonsense combined with the woke agenda around immigration has done a lot of damage.

It's not just France having difficulties,

Then on the other hand, it's not like the Uk is doing brilliantly but we are not doing as badly as many predicted, despite doom and gloom merchants insisting we are.

Do you understand that just printing more money devalues the currency and pushes inflation up?

Have you heard of the Weimar Republic, before it collapsed you needed a wheelbarrow full of money to buy a loaf of bread

I guess simply put, governments borrow money to spend and pay the loans off with tax money.. A good chunk of the Uk national debt is owed to the Bank of England.

USA UK Relations

Oh no, there's lots of ifs and buts in your post. As already said, the Germans made many mistakes like bombing cities instead of airfields. If you change something in this scenario then there are many possible outcomes.

For example, Britain falls to Germany then no US troops in Europe, the possibility that commonwealth forces surrender, Germany and Japan turn on Russia and in the meantime, with little resistance (because Britain isn't supplying them) the Germans develop nuclear weapons and the fat lady sings.

Russia's enemy was our enemy, don't forget the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was signed in August 1939. Russia only became our ally because Hitker invaded them.

The Russians suffered mightily but they took their revenge and the Stalin's true colours emerged too.

Not prevention you say, maybe you should research how many terror attacks the UK has prevented in the last year...the last 10 years?

Now these harsh sentences, where are they exactly? We let people off with a smacked wrist, naughty boy (or girl) don't do it again, because our prisons are full and we are releasing criminals early before we can lock some more up. Then a large number of them re-offend.

Hitler didn't need to invade us, if the USA had stayed right out of it we'd have been taken by a death of a thousand cuts. Without supplies from the USA we would have faded away. Then the Nazi would have their chance.

We ALL won the war, together, The Allies and Russia. Hitlers biggest mistake was Barbarossa and the Japanese, attacking pearl is up there too as a cock up..

Farsi? Maybe the USa should count it's lucky stars that Britain held out long enough because if we'd fallen whilst waiting for the USA to join then there never would have been D Day.

Maybe the USa should thank the French because without them the Royal family would have a palace in Washington.

See, we can do this nonsense all day. The blunt truth is Trump cannot be trusted. All of us are paying higher prices because of his action in Iran, a war he doesn't know how to get out of, we are ALL paying the price. How much is fuel in your neck of the woods these days?

I posted that same thing on here ages ago, don't tax their income tax their "things" including their property.

They can move their cash offshore, they cannot move their properties.

Iranian Small Boat Migrants on Terrorism Charges

Lyon and Heffer were at the very least stupid though possibly misinformed. Governments know the way things are going long before we reach situations like today.

We know Blair didn't tell us the truth about immigration when he "opened the flood gates" and today we see Lammybtrying to use the courts to prevent full factual information about immigrant criminal activity coming out. It's not just Labour though, the Tories had 14 years after Blair and did nothing much.

All our governments are complicit in the damage done to this country.

I don't hate anybody because of the colour of their skin but we know many UK Asian families (particularly South Asian communities) still tend to have slightly larger household sizes and a more multi-generational living than the white British population, though family sizes have been shrinking across generations, as have family sizes of all ethnic groups.
