Improved train service for the Cardiff area
at 11:50 8 Jun 2024

Talking of that part of the world and especially as it's 80 th D Day anniversary just gone The largest American airforce base in Europe between 1942 and 58 was at Burtonwood near Warrington between Liverpool and Manchester . They serviced the B17's and other aircraft there . Warrington at that time apparently was an American town in all but name.

quote-BASE HISTORY
RAF Burtonwood was the largest military airbase in the UK during World War Two and was responsible for the handling of over 15,000 aircraft of the United States 8th 9th 12th and 15th Air Forces, covering the geographical are of the UK, Europe, Mediterranean and the Middle East. In addition to the 18,500 US servicemen and women base at Burtonwood, it was also responsible for another 30 bases in the UK and probably over 50,000 personnel in all.

Built as an RAF Base, Burtonwood opened in April 1940 jut in time to supply Spitfires to the Battle of Britain. Simultaneously a Civilian Aircraft Factory, known as Burtonwood Repair Depot, was developed, with them both using the same airfield. The RAF gave up the base to the Americans in 1942, but took it back after the war in 1946. In fact, Burtonwood was the last American base in the UK to be handed back to the RAF. After two years acting as a storage depot for surplus RAF aircraft, it was passed back to the Americans in 1948, to support the US strategic bombers stationed in the UK. It housed and overhauled US aircraft taking part in the Berlin Air Lift.

American Operational Flying ceased in 1959, although the RAF used Burtonwood as a V Bomber scatter airfield until 1966. The base was taken over by the US Army in 1967 as a storage base for war supplies in case war broke out in Europe. It remained this way until 1993 when the end of the Cold War heralded the end of the necessary deterrent. The US Army 47th Area Support Group supplied subsequent operations including relief, food and materials for the conflicts in Europe.
There is a visitor centre there open from 2,30 to 5 Wed to Sunday , I might well pay a visit there one day to have a look .

Here's a player who is available . Tony Mowbray tried to sign him from Liverpool when he was at Blues. Got rid of by Klopp with a lot of other prospects when he left recently. We have been crying out for a midfield dribbler like this for ages . 20 years old.

Summer holiday activities in Turkiye and similar
at 12:36 29 May 2024

What made it worse was the road surface like many in Greece was littered with small potholes . 500 years ago Caravaggio might have depicted her in one of his paintings . It was all there - the sunlight and shade the tightly wrapped shawl with the infant entwined , the wild hair framing her natural beauty the simple dress and ordinary well worn shoes .

I remember on Zante a few years ago now a young Greek woman - no more than 25 I would say , was on a moped no crash helmet , one hand on the handlebars , hair and clothes billowing in the breeze as she scooted along and a baby underneath the other arm.

Iam not an anti vaxxer Iam anti covid vaccine as I dont believe , like many others the narrative we have been fed .
As far as road traffic collisions go I have had my fair share , mostly on motorcycles. .
I would probably have had pain killers after these but I honestly cannot remember .I can only remember the stitching up process. As far as pain killers go I have nothing against them they have been proven over time unlike the covid vaccine.

EUROPA League final
at 09:22 23 May 2024

Just been reading about Atalanta. A lesser light in Italian football that has achieved great things this season . They nullified Liverpool over 2 games and gone on to beat an unbeaten team 3 - 0 in the final , thats no fluke.
If Iwas running Swansea City I would be imploring them to arrange a visit so that we could go over there and learn from their methods. This could be a great opportunity for our coaches to link up and learn the secrets of their success. It could also reciprocate and provide a platform for some of their future players to test themselves in the efl via the Swans.
Their manager Gasperini comes across as a very affable humble man who obviously knows his onions .This club represents a city that has a total population of 120000 , half the size of Swansea's ! It has historically been in the shadows of the mighty Milan teams which is the nearest large city but not any more it seems.
The way Lookman spoke in one if his interviews suggest a simplicity in their methods that seemed to him to unravel the previous " complications" bogging down his game and enabled him to flourish. That speaks volumes for what they are doing in that part of Italy .They are not big spenders as like us the purse strings are tight and therefore have to get the best out of what they have got in their own special way .This makes the Swans and Atalanta very similar in many respects . My wife's in Milan atm maybe she could put a good word in for us

Ciao arreverdici

Personally speaking I never felt much of a threat anyway . Never had the jab . Never socially distanced . Never wore a mask . Never missed a day's work .
