Trundle:
Trundle: "I Would Come Back Tomorrow"
Wednesday, 5th Aug 2009 19:36

Lee Trundle says that he would come back to Swansea tomorrow, after he was told by Gary Johnson that he could leave Bristol City

Trundle scored just twice last season for the Robins, and was eventually loaned out to League One outfit Leeds United, where he failed to impress, scoring once in eight appearances.

The Scouser signed up at Ashton Gate in 2007, for £1m, but has struggled to make the same impact he had here at Swansea, where he scored over 80 goals in 4 campaigns.

Rumours have been rife about a return for the former fans' favourite, with the Swans desperately on the lookout for more firepower after Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez joined Wigan.

City boss Gary Johnson is happy to let Trundle return either on loan or on a permanent deal, with a fee as low as £50k thought to be enough for the Robins to sell.

"If Swansea were in for me, I would come back tomorrow," Trundle told the Evening Post.

"Everyone knows that Swansea is where I had the best spell of my career and coming back would be my first choice now.

"If I could pick any club to join, Swansea would be my first choice.

"Myself and Gary Johnson have got different thoughts on things.

"I feel as though I am too good to be playing reserve-team football at my age. I know I can play first-team football and that is what I want to do."
