Arron Sanders takes a look at the week ahead and speculates on what will be revealed as Saints away kit for the coming season.

On the back of the first pre season game at Eastleigh, Southampton’s pre season gets into full swing this week with two further friendlies taking place behind closed doors and The club has today teased the release of the away kit for Thursday.

On Tuesday the second preseason fixture against Gillingham, will take place with a slightly different format than usual with two 60 minutes games being played in order to give more minutes to players and maximum match fitness levels this can only be a good thing for Saints when considering the current inflated squad size.

On Thursday the club has today teased on its social media platforms, that the anticipated 1996 inspired away shirt will be revealed with the teaser featuring a mix yellow and blue lava lamp and a countdown timer which starts at 1996 in a little nod to fans that the leaked images on X from earlier this summer are indeed correct regarding this season’s kits. The kit is set to be a hit with the 1996 version a fan favourite in the history of the clubs strips.

On Friday Saints welcome fellow Sports Republic side Valenciennes, who they play in the exact same format as the Gillingham fixture in a behind closed doors two 60 minutes games against the French side this will see the return of Derrick Abu with the young right back joining our opponents following the expiration of his contract with Saints at the end of last season.

So a busy week ahead, and who knows what may or may not happen with the transfer window open regarding incoming and outgoing players on the south coast but it’s certainly full steam ahead from here on in.
