Euros/ Africa cup

Summer year 2
World Cup.

Means there's not much need for meaningless friendlies either as the countries are playing competitive matches regularly.

Edit.
Countries need to properly insure players against injury as well.
Don't think it's fair the club and it's supporters pay the price for losing their star players to injury.
Wages and medical costs should be covered by the country or FIFA as they both demand players travel even if injured.

Africa is an amazing and richly talented place.

Proof is in how the leagues and clubs are trying to protect their interests.

I hope the african nations body is adequately compensated and builds better facilities there.
