In 1990, Cymru had both Germany and Holland in our world cup qual group - and 2 go through.
Stuffed before we started.
In marked contrast, England get easy qualifications, but never do so well when they turn up.
Last 2 tournos - the world cup and Euros - are notable exceptions over a 60 year period.

Which makes me laugh that between 1962 ( when they qualified ) and 1982 ( when they squeezed through in a play off ) they didn’t qualify for a World Cup. 1974 and 1978 being the most revealing.
1994 didn’t go well either. | |
