| Protesters on 01:01 - Dec 7 by Dr_Parnassus | No need to apologise. The data suggests the transmission rates are the same at peak infection in both the vaccinated and unvaccinated. The data suggests that transmission is only higher in the unvaccinated due to the vaccinated having less viral load in the respiratory system, being less symptomatic meaning when they sneeze or cough less and the unvaccinated take slightly longer for it to clear. All of that is avoided by continuing the practice of social distancing, good hygiene, mask wearing in heavily populated areas and self isolating when infected. Nothing I have read here screams out at me that we should be forcing people to take a vaccine which can be harmful to some. The power of choice is still a far more valuable commodity. |
Where exactly does the data show the conclusions you have proposed? Your rather pathetic attempt to goad with your “ no need to apologise” will have no impact on me. I am very rational person and I know with certainty that my opening remark would not be interpreted as an apology by the vast majority of contributors. It is the rather childish remark of someone who realises they are struggling to maintain a logical argument to support their position. That sort of person resorts to deflection and goading because they need to try to assert themselves as the dominant person in a discussion.

I haven’t made any conclusions, I am sticking with the base outcome until there is a body of proof to sway it. There is no evidence that I have read that there is significant levels of difference in transmission between asymptomatic cases regardless of vaccination status. All the evidence currently surrounds symptomatic cases as basing the reasoning off higher rates of transmission. As I said, if you have anything for me to read from a proper and respectable source which claims significant difference in transmission rates of asymptomatic cases then I’ll happily give it a read. Until that time I will assume there is no evidence to suggest any significant difference.

| Protesters on 23:45 - Dec 6 by Dr_Parnassus | I would guess far more people are hospitalised or needing ICU hospitalisation through poor choices as opposed to covid. 1 in 4 deaths in the States is from heart disease, not sure what it’s like in the U.K. - that’s 25% of all deaths. That’s without touching upon anything else considered preventable through choice, that’s just one single thing. You can catch covid from everyone, vaccinated or not. However if you have the vaccination you are less likely to die or be seriously ill. We have minimised the risk in other areas you are right, health warning on junk food, health warnings on tobacco and higher tax - agree with all that. But it’s still a choice. If you take away someone’s rights because you aren’t making the choice the Government wants you to make then alarm bells really should be going off. As I said before, many people don’t want the vaccinations for many reasons, it doesn’t have to be because of a video on Facebook. I didn’t want it as I have a family history of arrhythmia. Taking the vaccine increases my already high chances of developing that. However due to draconian measures here I was essentially forced into it. If I had died as a result, I don’t think my partner would ever forgive the state for taking away my informed choice. |
Over all I suppose more people are hospitalised through poor lifestyle choices, But poor lifestyle choices aren't going to require such a significant proportion of the population to require hospital treatment in such a short space of time. The resources required to treat many lifestyle related illnesses can be planned for in a way that we can't plan for the treatment of covid, covid places too much oif a burden in too short a time frame. You are considerbly less likely to become severly ill with covid if vaccinated than if not, and even less likely to require the most invasive care. I genuinely think the reluctance to get vaccinated is based around misinformation or misunderstanding. Whether that has come from social media or elsewhere. I think you've been victim to it too based on the arrhytmia comment, it can be an incredibly rare side effect from a covid vaccine. However it is far more common after a covid infection, Sergio Aguerro is a notable example, along with a host of other long lasting impacts even if you escape from the initial impacts quite lightly. I don't think people realise that covid isn't going anywhere, we will all get it several times during our lifetime. If Omicron is as infectious as claimed, it could run through the popultaion of a country with little immunity like wildfire. The first bout of it could kill you, that is far less likely if you're vaccinated.

I don't have facebook and don't listen to anyone with regards to Covid comments who aren't qualified to make the comments. I spoke to Professor privately who advised me to talk with my doctor regarding the arrhythmia risk, which I did, who then also confirmed that it would be a possible side effect. It depends on your health as to how rare it is. I am more susceptible to it, so while it may be extremely rare for some people, the odds significantly shorten with some people prone to it. There was no disinformation involved in my thought process and was determined by professionals. I just can't get behind the burden to the health system argument, because you could again say that would only be the case because beds are taken up by other people who make poor lifestyle choices which then get compounded with covid cases entering the health system. It is what it is with regards to that. You should be in control of your own destiny. I don't plan on getting Covid at all if I can at all help it, so I am hoping my risk of arrhythmia from catching it doesn't come into it. It would have been nice to have the opportunity to try and avoid that complication on all fronts, except I was pretty much forced to roll the dice. I support anyone that doesn't bow to that pressure and wants to leave the dice well alone and continue to try and avoid contracting the virus. Edit - just to confirm, I am not against the vaccine or anyone that wishes to get as many doses as they choose to. But I am advocating for choice without consequence to freedoms.
