Stadium Expansion - again 18:14 - Apr 11 with 4188 viewsjohnlangy

On the day that the Swans are promoted back to the PL at the end of next season two things should happen. Russell Martin should begin recruiting for the PL season and the diggers should move in to start the stadium expansion. The need for the expansion is simply explained by the numbers.

When we got to the PL the stadium capacity was 20,520. The max number of ST's we could sell was 16,400 because 10% of capacity had to be allowed for the visiting teams supporters and 10% had to be available for walk up purchase. It's a statement of the obvious that if the max number of ST's you can sell do sell then there's potential to sell more. But the Club were constrained by the stadium size. And although the capacity was increased slightly to about 20,900 by the end, every home game was a sell out in the home ends. That's 133 consecutive games.

This season the average attendance so far is around 17,200. This in a season that's been a let down in terms of table position. If we were in the play offs or challenging for the autos that average would be probably 20,000. Which would mean virtually no ability to accommodate the extra supporters that would want to watch PL football. And the only way more people will become regular supporters is if they are able to get tickets. Which in turn would mean there'd be better support when we get relegated again because a number of them would have become supporters.

Note the optimism at the start. No harm in that imo.

You used the word 'flip'. It is misleading. You are making big claims about things you do not appear to understand.

"There is only one reason why Levien has not flipped" Oh really?. Well can give you many reasons.

a) The required buying price
b) Finding a buyer
c) Wanting to keep it longer to benefit from football inflation
d) Enjoying watching the games as owner
e) Complete trust in Mr Martin and Mr Allen
f) Getting greater value from expanding the stadium
g) Getting naming rights.
h) Diluting the lazy Welsh shareholders while in the championship.
i) Possible future receipt of dividends
k) Enjoyment of building a business improving reputation.

To sell the cub at premium price the club would need tp prove it was not a Yo yo club. This rules out a quick "flip". Burnley and Palace have done this.

I rest my case. You continue with your inane drivel sunshine - one only need to be of low-to-average intelligence to see through your shallow mindset

When the time is right expanding the capacity of the stadium is the sensible thing to do.
Obviously that time isn’t now.

In the pl the swans would easily get 25,000, no problem at all.

'On the day that the Swans are promoted back to the PL at the end of next season two things should happen. Russell Martin should begin recruiting for the PL season and the diggers should move in to start the stadium expansion'.

This was the first line of my original post. I agree that we don't need it while in the Championship.

Having said that, have a look at the other thread titled 'Less than 1000 tickets left for Barnsley'.

That's what winning and bringing the feel good factor in to play does to ticket sales. And that's with us in the position of just hopefully getting into the top half of the table.

What would be the situation if we were in the play offs ? Or going for the autos ?

Not to be critical of good ticket sales but how much of it is because it's half term and Good Friday to boot?, let see how many we sell for the rest of the season before taking these match sales as a big thing.

It's not misleading at all. It means selling us. The poster didn't say quick flip - just flip. They've owned us for years. Quick flipping is out the window.
a) yes because the club's worth less than when they bought (relegation and failure to get promoted under their ownership)
b) as above. Funny you're now saying it's not that easy to find a buyer though. Differs from the array of bidders you always said the trust would have.
c) Everything else is inflating and has since they bought worldwide. And there's a finite point to that for a championship club.
d) when was the last game they watched in person?
e) probably have no choice
f) they didn't expand the Stadium after we'd been in the prem for 7 seasons. They aren't going to do it anytime soon.
g) naming rights that ,they didn't sell and liberty have for free for years?
h) they've loaned money over a year ago but still no dilution.
i) they can't take dividends when the club is in debt and not making money. And you can't call your idol Jenkins lazy. Sacrelige.
j) they haven't improved the business. It's been a downward trajectory since their takeover.

Hmm again a deviation. Now you're agreeing with me and saying getting to Burnley levels will be difficult and lengthy. When of course it was in your interest you were making out it was a piece of pish.

The point I was making that the use of the word "flip" is all part of the anti US owners and sellers handbook. Part of the r failed narrative that led to the Trust handing over £400,000 to their English advisors. As were all the other bogus phrases used which I identified. Ithought it was quite comical actually in a 'pish take' sort of way.

Flip is an almost rapid reflex action not a considered action with due diligence and procedural niceties taken.

If Martin ball delivers the SCST payday after a couple of seasons in the PL will be a whopping £32m (after dilution) not the embarrassing £10.5 m the new Trust board informed us of.

Kindly etc.

The US people are in it for the love of the sport. This is why the have invested in sport. If they had invested in horse racing it would be for the love of horse racing. Why not?

It is sad the the parochial Welsh fans have followed the English urban masses in characterising all US owner with the same brush as the Glazers and the owners at Burnley that bought the club with borrowed money. These clubs paid for the leveraged purchase. Swansea owners brought no debts but will clear Swansea 's Covid debts for them.

I talk about things the fans group never mention. Hard nose things like 'inflation'. In my opinion if an organisation has £1,000,000 and does not talk inflation at 7% then something is very badly wrong in that organisation. Inane drivel it is not. 7% of £1m is £70,000 a year or roughly £6000 a month. If they were losing 600 subscription at that rate they would have no members in 6 weeks.

Steve Kaplan is a very wealthy man. He was a co founder of Oaktree Capital Mangement and that is valued at $7.58billion. For every 1% he owner he has £76m. If he owned 5% perhaps £380m. 62% of that organisation was sold in 2019 after Kaplan had bought Swansea using about £20m-£25m of his ow cash I would guess. I suspect between them Kaplan SIlverstein and Levien there is in excess of £1 billion sloshing around looking for home.

He is not in Swansea for the money in my opinion. It is small change to him. He is in it for the challenge. He believes he and his US mates can make money on Swansea and I believe them. The fans group should learn to be optimistic and positive. There is a lot to like about Swansea city. Time for the old cynics of forums to leave the club to younger more positive people. Old dogs cannot accept alternative views even when reviewing a humiliating climb down.

They threw a £500,000 scarp to the Trust and hope they will now get back to the business of getting Swansea city back the Old Trafford and Anfield.

- no it's not, you've made that up. Again. You're not making sense, Again. tying yourself in knots. Again. On the one hand you're saying the trust don't want the Americans here (furthering a narrative apparently) then trying to say that the Americans would sell (furthering a narrative apparently). Yes you have made up a litany of bogus phrases in some bizarre false flag exercise.

- and the Americans would do that if money's on the table.

- after a 'few' seasons now. Your last post suggested getting to palace or Burnley wouldn't be quick. Do you forget that you've typed these things? Or do you just believe that no one will notice? And that's only if the Americans decide sell via the club by the way. No guarantee that any agreements are valid if the holding company is sold.

- they love the sport we play so much they never come and watch us. Yea proper devoted.

- Another false flag. Making up narratives in your own head and then pretending it's someone elses. The owners are being measured on their merits just like Bradley was as a manager (which was abysmal no matter what nationality he is). You mean they've converted Swansea's covid debts to their own and charging interest on it. That's the current reality.

- this has been repeatedly addressed then you have zero retort. The trust can't with their current financial standing invest in anything with a large interest return. You mumbling on about that repeatedly is precisely inane drivel.

- and? They've put none of their fortune into Swansea yet besides loans and haven't elevated the club to the level befitting of this extensive acumen you allude to. Capital management company sounds awful close to the hedgefund ball park though.

- well if they think they can, it hasn't gone to plan yet has it. When is the masterplan going to kick in? The fact that the trust exists and cares is because there is a lot to like about Swansea City. Oh yes the current trust are very optimistic. They've ensured their access to the directors lounge and comfy seats with the settlement.

- what you mean is they settled out of court and thus admitted guilt following a flawed and non compliant sale/purchase of the club undercutting the claimant in the process because they knew they had the funds to keep litigation going until the claimant ran out of funds.

- ah so when we were getting to the play off final last season and play offs the season before the Americans weren't putting their heart into it because the potential of court action was hanging over them. Now it's over they can fully concentrate on getting us back to the premier league. Right
