REFERENDUM 18:01 - Apr 16 with 4617 viewsjohnlangy

Don't worry people, don't worry. It's not about Brexit OR Independence you'll be glad to know. It's about the NHS.

The NHS is on it's knees again and everyone's tearing their hair out trying to work out how to fix it. What's happened for decades now is the current government of whatever colour decides to go in a certain direction. Then they get voted out and the incoming government that has a very different perspective on how the NHS should be run changes what the previous lot did. Then they get voted out and, hey presto, change again.

So, is the only way to fix it a Referendum. The British people vote for the way they want the NHS to be run. And the result is an actual legally binding one where successive Governments whether red or blue have to follow whatever the plan is or be in breach of the law. Hopefully Boris would be nowhere near this one

I imagine coming up with a list of the potential 'plans' to be voted on would be horrendously difficult.

But is that the only way it'll ever be fixed ?

I am sure Johnson has the interests of the people of West Wales right at the top of his agenda.
He is good like that. Not.

Just like the Senedd and Labour are only interested in Cardiff and the South East. About time the Senedd allocated the UK Goverment's block grant fairly to all of Wales.

I apparently read more than you because Seyfried was pushing the keto diet as a cure for cancer. He was roundly proved wrong though.

I hope you never have to find out he's wrong but then you'd never know any better.

In short, cancer cells love sugar, remove sugar and the cancer cell have a difficult time.

This isn’t new news, Otto Warburg over 80 years ago discovered that Many tumour cells rely on glycolysis for their energy.

I’ve never been on a ketogenic diet, but for the last twenty years or so I have been fasting each day or OMAD.

There are of course environment and genetic issues that are out of my hands, but I believe what I do everyday is greatly reducing my risk of cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and many other diseases.

The key word there is reducing not eradicate.

How do you get all the protein you need?

Our bodies still need sugar, the key thing is not eating unhealthy amounts of sugar. I replaced biscuits and chocolates with a tub of mixed nuts and goji berries, I eat more fruit and less meat and I get a lot of exercise, I walked over 100 miles last month.

You do not need to consume sugar.

That's factually incorrect,

Sugar provides energy to your muscles and acts as a source of energy for your brain and nervous system. You also need sugar because it helps metabolize fats and prevents your body from using protein as energy. Blood sugar -- called blood glucose -- gets broken down in a series of chemical reactions that create energy, which fuels your cells.

Your body produces sugar from basically any food it consumes. You don’t have to actually consume sugar itself.

When your body has used all it’s sugar (Glycogen) it switches to burn ketones which is a much better fuel for the body.

If humans had to rely on consuming sugar itself the human race would have died out long ago.

Most food actually has sugars in them and we metabolise that sugar. Fruit (for example) is healthy but all fruit has natural sugar in it. Simple carbohydrates are composed of sugars.

Processed sugar from bags is what we shouldn't eat and I don't add any to my food.

How do you get the protein you need? You seem to be avoiding that question.

Where did I say you don't eat it? I asked how you get the protein you need because the OMAD diet restricts protein intake, unless you eat a 16oz steak with eggs for every meal.

It was an honest question, how do you get the 100-120 grams of protein you need daily?

Do you understand what OMAD is ?

With respect that article is a load of shite.
I do though eat meat and eggs regularly plus other foods that contain protein.

You obviously don’t understand OMAD or intermittent fasting.
I can also tell you a few years ago I did carten bike ride without eating for 36 hours prior to starting and finishing.

You mean like the UK government invests their 'block grant' fairly across the whole of the UK ?
So what's this North/South divide I keep hearing about.

That article was written by doctors and is evidence based BUT, you don't agree with it so it is shite?

It's becoming a personal cliche now, we will all believe what we want to believe regardless of the evidence.

Medically speaking the OMAS diet won't work for everyone because we are all different, we all need to find the way that works best for us.

If OMAD works for you then great, well done.

Sorry John, hijacked the thread a bit there. Back on topic, you are dead right of course. The same thing is happening in Wales as has happened in England, the bulk of investment has gone into the corner of the country where the capital city is. The South East of England has boomed while the North has been left to stagnate.

This idea of fair investment across the UK is really farcical.

Anyone can go on the internet and find a negative article about any subject in the world, as you have proven.

If you are going to goggle people on the subject look up brilliant minds and leading experts on the subject, David Sinclair for one.

That was the point of devolution the extra subsidies from the UK government could be spent according to the wish of the Scottish, and Welsh people. This clearly has not happened.

I find the G.P triage system extremely worrying! Disturbing in fact! Many who should be seeing a G.P are putting severe pressure on NHS hospitals by needlessly being sent to them by G.P's!

I was in Morriston A+E a few days back and the stories I heard and what I saw was staggering! You have got to experience it to actually appreciate the severity of it all. 24 hour Welsh NHS ambulance response times was on Welsh news this evening.

I have personally witnessed/experienced ambulance call out times and it is now a fact that emergency 'golden hour' intervention from incident to hospital intervention is now a thing of the past! An immediate ambulance response and fast route to medical specialists is now but a dream.

It is unbelievable to think that Bridgend St Johns Ambulance paramedics are turning up as emergency response to Swansea calls. Ditto the involvement of Red Cross ambulance crews.

Black comedy at times i.e. a person was sent to Morriston A+E via G.P triage, spent thirteen and a half hours waiting only to be then told to go back to the G.P triage practice. This is the farce that now exists.

Argus!

You just don't like it because it points out flaws with what you believe. Everything has flaws, nothing is perfect.

No problem Lorax. It has gone off on a bit of a tangent.

So back to the point. A Referendum. Is there any other way ? It would be a pain in the neck devising the question. There would have to be more than two options.

The Westminster Government(s) is impotent. If they can't do it what else can be done ?

And if it isn't sorted we'll continue to plough ever more money into it. And it still won't be sorted. And we'll still complain about it.

Forever.

part of the problem is politicians who think they know better, despite the evidence. They do research, they do a public consult, then they do what they want despite evidence and public opinion so yes, a referendum is probably the only way.

Politicians though, they're not so keen on proper democracy, they get elected and then take it they can do as they please, they're mostly all the same whether it's Westminster or the Senedd.

We won't get a vote, they would be worried we'd vote for something they didn't want. Like Brexit!
