24 hours to kick off.. [Preview] 15:00 - May 12 with 658 viewsSwanseaman

Another week and another huge game in Swansea City's history. The last game against Everton the bookies had us as slight favorites, (although some, especially on talk sport, gave us no chance and had us for the drop). But as it turned out, Hull's loss and the Swans excellent performance, has put us back into the driving seat.

For the Sunderland game we are again favorites, but this doesn't mean it will be easy. Most punters are saying that it all depends on which Sunderland turns up. Betting tips based on the stats, say that any team could win, with the loser likely not to score. They are recommending: BTTS — No at 2.0

The trouble with a relegated team is that the pressure is off them, and without having to worry about the result, they often go out and perform a lot better. With the new confidence Swansea have, thoughts are that if we can play to our best, we are capable of getting the result needed. But nothing is ever certain in football. Hull were unbeaten at home for 7 games, they had taken 19 points from a possible 21. And Marco Silva's own home record statistics meant that he had not been beaten for a home match under his management for 41 games.

And Sunderland had not won a game for almost 3 months, but with the pressure off from being relegated, they completely upset the odds. This Saturday, it is the Swans turn to play against Sunderland first. With the momentum we are on, and 3,000 travelling Jacks, people are backing us for the win. But there is no doubt that we are still in a very dangerous situation, and the chances of being relegated from the Premiership remain high. A slip up or error on Saturday, and a win from Hull (who will no doubt be giving it everything they have to stay in the top flight), would see us lose our driving seat position.

Sunderland's Jermain Defoe is the man to watch, he can be dangerous when on his game, and if he is leaving at the end of this season, he may be wanting to impress any possible future clubs. Hull's influential winger Lazar Markovic is out due to injury, and there is talk by some of Sunderland's supporters that they'd prefer Hull to be relegated, because it would be easier to travel to them in the Championship. It all helps, but often when things are pointing in your favour, it can still all go wrong. Referees can make dodgy decisions, unforeseen things can happen. Keeping focused becomes more difficult when playing away, and there will be lot's of Sunderland fans who would enjoy seeing us relegated.

With the game against Everton, the Swans played with unbelievable passion and determination. The players gave everything they had. Now it's a different challenge. In many ways it is more difficult. We don't do as well away from home or against the lower placed teams. A hostile intimidating 40,000 plus stadium, with many of their supporters wanting to relegate us, will not help. And even though on paper Sunderland aren't as good as Everton, with the lack of pressure, and playing at home, this is a real tough one.

There is a mass exodus of 3,000 Jack Army heading North, and many more tuning in on Satellite, the Internet, and the radio. If Swansea can dig deep to get the result, and escape relegation, it would become a fantastic end to our most difficult season in the Premier league.

Some Sunderland home stats:

Sunderland's last 8 home games (4 months): 3 goals scored, 15 goals conceded.
Sunderland's last 6 home games: 2 goals scored, 12 goals conceded
Sunderland's last 5 Premier league home games against Swansea: 1 Win, 1 loss and 3 draws.
Goals scored last 5 Premier league home games against Swansea: 3 goals for Sunderland, 4 goals for Swansea.

Ive had a good feeling since the everton game that we are going to play our best and will win

There is an air of confidence which is massive at this point of the season

But we HAVE to score first

100% focus. Take NOTHING for granted. No howlers or conceding just before half time etc.

Do that and we have a chance
