After reading what Dr W posted on the Plymouth shootings thread I had a look into Incel, I hadn't heard much about it before.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-

That isn't good reading. What the Incels stand for and believe in, it seems to be jealousy and hate spawned from loneliness and rejection. Again I'll say the internet is largely responsible. We see it all the time on social media, the posts of people who look perfect, how women can become miserable trying to look like these 'perfect' women when the the perfection is nearly always fake, the pictures altered to present the image. At the same time women are turning down men who don't meet the standards presented online. If you're not tall enough, thin enough, if your nose is a bit wonky...any number of reasons and the damage is being done by a shallowness in society that is increasing.

It doesn't seem to matter that these perfect people (online pictures) with their perfect lives, when caught out in public without the ability to alter the reality, they are usually anything but perfect. With no make up, hair stylist or dresser, away from their safe surroundings these people are just like the rest of us.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I think what the internet has done is given these people (and all sorts of outcasts, not just Incels) some sort of community. Whereas before they might have just griped in silence, now they can find like minded types to encourage and egg each other on, and solidify their grievances against the world they think has rejected them.

Whilst the internet isn't required for one of these men (and it's basically always men) to tip over the edge, it's likely to lead to more incidents of this type going forward. Problem is how does society deal with that? The Genie is out of the bottle already.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

You're right, these sad and lonely individuals who would have suffered in solitude now find a support group online and probably turn more radical as they see posts from everybody like them, some of whom may well have been on the brink of an attack of some kind, and they get encouraged by it.

What is scary is, these men (mostly) are targetting women but also other men who they percieve to have a happy relationship. IS that why the Plymouth fella shot a father and his baby? He wanted to destroy the happiness? If he can't have the happiness he's going to take others happiness away, is that it?

I find it strange though because if these people joined an online dating firm they would probably find a relationship. I strongly believe there is someone for everyone and there are more women than men in this world.

What society can do I don't know. I wonder if, as a precaution, people will start looking at incel groups online to see if they can identify any members close to home?

It's a terrifying thought that a lonely bloke nearby might target my family because he's jealous of our happiness.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I'd never heard of Incel before this week.

I've had a look at some of their forums today. They are seriously disturbing.

Men who have completely failed at life, for whatever reason, but accept no responsibility for it. It's all womens, or "Chad's" fault. Chad seems to be a nickname for a man who has had a partner.

Pathetic individuals who wouldn't know each other existed if it wasn't for the Internet.

Is one of the reasons they've failed at life because they spend too log on the internet? Maybe they spent too much time watching porn?

I agree with you about responsibility, they don't accept it, these days there is always someone else to blame, someone else who deserves punishing for the things these sad individuals can't do.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Definitely too much time on the Internet. I saw this earlier, he seems to have been banned from the forum now, perhaps because he admitted he was at fault .

"I'll admit that I'm also partly to blame because I haven't really bothered to improve my hygiene or social skills recently."

Only partly to blame now for not improving his hygiene?

They are the most pathetic group I've come across.

Check them out.
