A sad one million to one (or even more?) occurrence, but imo he may not qualify for a Darwin Award'.

The guy in the video imo will qualify for a 'Darwin Award' because he rigged himself up to take his entire body weight and aeroplane slipstream with something you can buy as a pack of four in the picture fitting's section of B+Q.

However that aside and on a more positive note to quote the narrator (1:26s)"But he accomplished something very few people had ever accomplished. Jim Bailey sacrificed everything to accomplish what he did". So it was not a wasted endeavour?
