How on earth was that a penalty ? 14:17 - Mar 30 with 553 viewsKeithHaynes

Newcastle v West Ham.
Second penalty.
Never.

If you can’t watch it atm, check it out later. Shocking.

Have a look at the second penalty, it almost gives the impression VAR is let’s say …
Questionable.

I thought it was an awful decision. My impression was that Gordon swung his foot at the ball, missed it, and made contact with Phillips. I also thought there was a very dodgy penalty in the Cardiff Met vs TNS game this evening, which went against the students to let TNS back into the game. But in that case it was a lino rather than VAR to blame. Actually I'd say that most of the time VAR does benefit the smaller teams, although there is the odd bizarre decision.

Shocker for me too - at no stage did Gordon win or try to play the ball. If anything it should be a foul on Phillips. Hardly got a mention on my stream - Michael Bridges was the co-commentator. I feel Moyes could have made a bigger deal of this , Shearer (no surprise) thought it was a clear pen. Just bizarre that VAR with all the replays & action replays gave it by overturning the original decision. If it had been 2-3 at the time instead of 1-3, it wouldn’t have been given
